Regarding equipment for crampons: add ice axe and definitely trekking poles. If going on foot, probably no problem because it might be trampled. You will walk depending on conditions and your fitness, 5-7 hours.

Mare, what does that mean for every case? Because I got no snowshoes but I'd go up anyway so no sinking to ass. But maybe you know more details? Thanks, LP from winter Kredarica phoenix!

HELLO FRIENDS!

Glad so many interested in NYE. Just checked weather. NYE clear but cold night ~ -10, day ~ -5, fog & cloudy lowlands, so real riddle re fireworks viewing - how much visible.

If you go I go too!!
Now tell how many plan to welcome NY with me at Aljaž Tower?

To Kredarica need lots fitness & good will, proper boots, trekking poles.
For Aljaž Tower ascent also crampons, harness kit, balaclava (see my pic), helmet, ice axe, headlamp, gloves....

I was there last Wed as you can see & read. Went on foot of course no snowshoes or skis. Sinks to knees in places! But nicely trodden - no worry - I guarantee. No snow since Wed & won't.

YES DON'T FORGET: all need gaiters of course so no snow in boots and waterproof clothes!!

Given that I haven't been to Triglav in winter conditions yet I'm interested how much a self-belay kit comes into play?
Harness already for potential belaying, but how much are the fixed ropes in use this year (Aren't they under snow?) Otherwise planning to go to Triglav with buddies end of January (at least to Kredarica) Already looking forward to potential summit ascent!(hope weather and conditions are favorable)

Last Wednesday when I went to Kredarica I saw someone walking on Triglav ridge, so I think it's doable and I'll bring all gear.
Definitely from the tower you see even nicer and more than from Kredarica. If it doesn't work or too dangerous we can always stay warm in the hut.

ONCE AGAIN:

My proposal:

START FROM KRMA AT 7.00, BY 14.00 ARRIVE AT KREDARICA, THEN ME AND SOMEONE TO TRIGLAV TO TREAD OR CHECK THINGS.
AROUND 22.00 ASCEND WITH HEADLAMPS TO TRIGLAV AND WAIT FOR FIREWORKS. ON NEW YEAR'S DAY DESCEND TO KREDARICA, SLEEP THERE, NEXT DAY TO VALLEY AND HOME.

As I see it's possible to sleep at Kredarica. Do we need sleeping bags? For the way there according to you good mountain boots + gaiters + trekking poles enough. For Triglav of course all the rest...

I, Mr. Marjan, Mr. Peter are going 100% up and if possible to the summit too. START this WEDNESDAY at 7.00 in front of Krma valley at the parking lot.

The idea seems fantastic to me...

I've been registered on this portal for some time, which I like a lot... I've been hiking in the mountains for about 7 years and have proper winter gear, some experience and enough fitness. Are there any free spots left for New Year's Eve at Kredarica? For now I'm solo for this, but none of my buddies are interested so I'd like to join one of your groups. Thanks for the info nasmeh

We'll sleep at Kredarica. Plenty of space, overnight - shared bunks 9-15 eur for PZS members, sleeping bags not needed - hut keeper says so.

Already four of us! Bravo guys!

See you tomorrow morning at 7.00 in front of Krma valley.

Today I went to Triglav, not for New Year's Eve, even less for fireworks. I went to Triglav because of the mountain, because of the beautiful views, because of friends Danica, Janez, Borut and another Janez, Jane, Milan, Cvetota, France, Stane I met, because of the wonderful winter up there and because of the snow that offered excellent skiing on the way back. And once again because of Triglav mountain and all the surrounding mountains. Today lots of them were visible. So I wish the same to all. Happy, patient, healthy and safe in the mountains.
