New Year's Eve on Kredarica (Triglav)

Advice is always welcome, the path will now be walked, since tomorrow is a joint trip of two mountaineering schools towards Kredarica, if conditions allow also the summit, some of us will be lying sick at homejezenmrk pogled next time

Hi, if the weather is right I'd also head to Kredarica for New Year. Well yeah, afternoon with a light is also possible. It's true it's easier during the day. Maybe more of us gather and we go together. It could be really nice. Just wait a bit for the more accurate forecast. In case of bad weather the whole thing would lose its charm. lp.

Yes Locan! I think so too.
We need to wait a few more days for the exact weather forecast. The final decision will be known on Mon or Tue.
Of course I had to open this thread earlier, so that all of us who want to go up for NYE can prepare.

It would be nice if at least three, even better if more of us, right.

Uros, I know but no other way! It can be done with headlamp, and it will be nicer! Especially if clear night. I hope so...
Anyway as said need to wait for weather on Mon, Tue. I myself didn't plan the summit already on Wed, because timewise I'd make it on time only to Kredarica (well maybe up too mežikanje)
Second day then full gas to the summit if weather appropriate...
In short guys wait till start of week...then I suggest we arrange a bit by cars - Krma is not too big and won't be happy with too much sheet metal.
We're in touch nasmeh

HI!

I'm afraid that this year's New Year's Eve on Kredarica looks rather bad.
The weather will be OK otherwise, but there will be fog in the lowlands and low clouds, which means you won't be able to see much if anything from such a height. If there wasn't or there won't be the forecasted fog, it would be or will be completely different!

AS WE CAN SEE, THE VALLEY IS NOW AND WILL BE IN FOG FOR MORE DAYS. PHOTO FROM 29.12.2008 AT 8.00h. Webcam from Kredarica.
And I was so looking forward to it!

WELL, I'LL DEFINITELY GO STRAIGHT AFTER THE NEW YEAR RIGHT TO TRIGLAV IN ONE DAY, NAMELY ON FRI OR SAT OR SUN FOR A GOOD START TO THE NEW YEAR!!!

For me, such a view into the New Year is quite enough nasmeh

Hi!
I see you're arranging around Kredarica so I'm interested if maybe someone the next day (1.1.09) after ascent to Triglav would continue towards Dolič. Maybe overnight in the bivouac there or a jump to Kanjavec and Hribarice, of course I mean ski touring.
I'm from Ljubljana if anyone interested we can arrange concretely, I can start 30.12. afternoon or 31 anytime.

Yes those Hribarice, I meant Prehodavci.

for me too such a view would be enough... mežikanje

but unfortunately I have to work on Wednesday longer than expected and so even with luck I won't make it... too bad, next year.

But yesterday I checked the conditions and they are really excellent! Go and let the inversion not bother you! It is true that on the section from the shepherd's hut to Kalvarija it sinks and you need a bit more patience, but elsewhere it's so much better that it outweighs everything!

But beware of THE COPS IN KRMA - yesterday evening all cars (all parked quite friendly according to conditions - enough space to drive past) got parking tickets! gypsy band! (so I won't say anything else)

I wish you a scenic jump into the new year!

where did you park that
like
sppella29. 12. 2008 15:32:14
at the end of the plowed road (a bit further from the Bled-Krma junction) at the hamlet which unfortunately slipped my mind. Anyway at the end, where you then turn right to the huts (plowed to the hamlet), straight ahead the path starts - track towards Kovinarska koča. Just out of consideration and to avoid locals' dissatisfaction we all parked neatly and as economically as possible. But true, there's parking for only about five or six cars.

so that means about one more kilometer to walk

Wow! I'd go too. But I think there won't be a view. Fog in the lowlands will probably ruin everything. Anyone got fresh weather info?

Personally I like such views typical for autumn and winter. Fog in lowlands and warm & sunny in hills. If cold front doesn't hit us yet, it'll be great, and even if no view on Ljubljana Basin - sea of fog nasmeh in valley - just not up high

Hi!
What equipment for ascent to Kredarica? Enough mountain boots + crampons or need something (touring skis, snowshoes,...). How long walk from Krma?
Thanks

This parking fine story is quite interesting. At least 30x I've parked in winter in Krma at the start of the valley by the hut, barrier etc. never got a ticket or similar so I wonder if any novelties this year re traffic regime. Angry locals?????
