Yesterday I set off as every year on a night winter hike to Menina, but due to strong wind I turned back at Bibi pasture. Snow starts in drifts about a kilometer from Zgornji Okrog. Snow drifts at Bibi are over a meter high on the road, but hold the weight of an adult.

Hi, we're heading to Menina with kids, wondering if the hut is open, if snow has melted or if it's (especially at the top) nicely passable, and if anything is blooming yet? A picture would be welcome, lp.

The hut on Menina Pasture is open at this time only on weekends. The upcoming extended Easter weekend will surely be open also on Monday.

Depends how fast you walk. At Semprimož you'll see the signpost, then path under your feet, good luck.

"Spring" Menina
Starting point was Rovt pod Menino. We drove quite high as the road is well passable. Fog below, higher sun and warm.
First visited Šavnica plateau and Goli vrh 1427m. Ideal hiking conditions. Snow on drifts holds, doesn't sink, otherwise only snow patches. On our "own" we walked to the hut, snacked and to Vivodnik. Then did a loop past Biba lake, shelter at Biba pasture, Limovska planina and past hunting hut loop back to start.
Weather warm, sunny almost no wind. Snow only in shady spots and drifts.
Wood anemones blooming, also noticed dandelion flower.
Nice morning walk with views of fog closing valleys and basins.
Total 4:30 hours used for everything.

Saturday ascent to Menina Pasture offered a wonderful sunrise and nice views.
Ascended to the top from Okrog village near Motnik, descended to Češnjice in Tuhinj.
Both paths normally passable, just around Vivodnik somewhat icy.

Menina on Saturday. Beautiful a bit of everything, cold wind, sunshine, clouds ... cozy in the hut, it's renovated, oh, and no more green shutters.

Today I hiked to Menina pasture from Golice village in Tuhinj valley. I missed the mountain views a bit so I climbed the lookout tower on Vivodnik too. Although unpleasant wind was blowing, the views were fantastic.
