Kum, conditions?

I was up there on Sunday from Hrastnik (Steklarna). There's a track, didn't even need gaiters. Now it's probably more frozen, so small crampons might come in handy.

On Friday I went to Kum from Sopote via Nežina path up and down. To Borovak I did some postholing, no big deal, since there's much less snow than on Trdinov vrh. From Podkum to the top, nice trodden track directly up. Great views from the top, and the sun came out too.

Hi,
was anyone maybe on Kum over the weekend? From which starting point is the path tracked? Trbovlje, Hrastnik??

Radeče - Svinjski rt - Nebeška gora - Kum - Hrastnik
Neither of us had been to Kum from Radeče before. We had different plans for this morning, but then chose this variant.
In the morning we park at the railway station parking in Radeče and start across the bridge. Then past the little church and up the hill past Stari grad. Next stop is Svinski rt 491m asl. Popular and very visited viewpoint.
When we face the asphalt we think how to bypass it. To the left we spot a forested ridge. Across the meadow we approach it. We continue nicely along the forested ridge. But we veer quite to the left and now look for a passage to the marked path. While crossing we run into a colony of ticks. When the sun hits us we are full of shiny dots up to our knees. Along the way we climb Nebeška gora (highest hill in Radeče municipality) 958m asl. We ring the wish bell and grin as we confess what one wished for...cool To Kum summit we leave the marked path a few more times and in the end collect a bit over 17km and 5h 30min walking. Hut open, beer cold and on the sunny terrace hot like mid-summer.
After rest we descend towards Hrastnik. Steep descent we manage in less than two hours. Last meters to the station we hurry/fly (hear the train announcement). At the last moment we jump on the train. When the train stops in Radeče we make just a couple steps and after 8 hours and 23km walked we are at the car. Pahor would say: "What a fantastic day"velik nasmeh

Zidani Most - over Cicko and Škratova dolina to Kum - Podkum - Preveg - Ostrež - Ravne - Renke - Train station Zagorje ob Savi and by train to Zidani Most.

I agree with Geppo and Pahor: Really fantastic day nasmeh and thanks to mountaineers of PD KUM for hinting "cicko and Kum".
Ostrež is interesting too and doesn't have its name for nothing hehe nasmeh Beautiful places for the soul...

velik nasmehYou could have gone to Litija, like Milan and I did.
https://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=25&id=7856
The mistake we made in the last km still bugs me and then "asphalted" cck.9km
But I recommend the ascent along the ridge to Grašica sometime....

I had that in mind too and on the way I thought about that asphalt nasmeh and told myself, better 5km asphalt to Zagorje than 9km to Litija nasmeh I wasn't sure I'd find the path :/
I noticed that Grašica and doubted I'd know the "path". Would rather go with a guide nasmeh

Today by train to Zidani Most, then by Čičko across Sava and along Škratova valley towards Kum. The path is quite overgrownzadrega. In the upper part of the valley trees are falling downzmeden, the path is accordingly muddy, otherwise it goes.
From Kum partly along Čebulova valley (path is wet and slippery), then across Dobovec to Trbovlje and by train home.

First trip of the new year up there.
Start in Zidani Most, then by Čičko across Sava (for those riding for the first time it's always a special experiencevelik nasmeh) and along Škratova valley to the top. Although the forecast wasn't great, from Kum the view took us to Kamnik Alps and even to Julian Alps with Očak in front.
After refreshment descent from windy summit to Trbovlje and by train back to the car.
Not much snow, path is slippery.
Nice regards and safe trip!

Which path is more recommended in current conditions, from Trbovlje or from Hrastnik? Or are both OK?

I'll answer myselfnasmeh. In the end we went up from Zagorje, the path is super, only the flat part along the road is tricky with solid ice, but in the warm temps this weekend everything that wasn't ice was soaked. Little snow on the path. We descended to Radeče, on that side there was quite more snow in the summit area, on Sunday it was really slippery, so I missed poles. Fun anyway jezik

I wanted to hike the path that Janez and Milan did three years ago. From Šklendrovca to Kum. Start was right, I reached Krvava peč, then missed somewhere. Instead of Kozlova gora I ended up in Završje and from there marked to Kum. Return along Škratova valley, by Čičko across Sava to Zidani Most. I'll repeat this path for sure, Janez's ridge pics are too tempting.velik nasmeh

Today we headed to Kum, which was nicely snow-covered...9cm fell. Real winter atmosphere that just added positive energy. Started in Dobovec, went along the road because too slippery in the forest. Fog on top blocking views. Very few visitors. Praise to the young staff for good food and friendlinessnasmeh.

Winter hike to Kum was planned for Jan 2nd, but as we know why, done on Saturday the 13th of March. Group of hikers by train to Hrastnik, then boldly up the hill, 1,000m ahead. Mud yesterday in the start wasn't too much, today it's different. Fog always greets me at Kum, why? Sadly can't stay in the hut yet, but coffee, tea and gibanica available. It was quite cold and we quickly headed to Čebulova valley and Trbovlje. So much teloh and kronc that we didn't see them. On descent it cleared nicely, warmed up. On return quite muddy, need to be careful not to slide down the slope. Total about 15 km, nice tour for Sunday rest. We'll go to Kum again, maybe from Zidani Most or Radeče.
