Apparently there was real chaos in Konc with fallen trees. I'm also interested if you can get to Kamniško Sedlo with a car - Gams? .

@viharnik, weren't you maybe cutting with that chainsaw for boxwood?

Dprapr, it looks like you, like me, have never sawn oak yet. The wood is so densely packed and heavy that after almost complete cut the whole tree (not small) stayed upright just with a few cm2 uncut stump, you can't believe it if you haven't tried. Oak wood, as we know, is one of the most durable and long-lasting woods, e.g. oak doors, chairs, tables. There's also a mocking saying among foresters about oak, they say you've run into this stubborn one. Acacia is probably the hardest wood, as thin trunks are used for final veneers in grapevine grafting. This wood doesn't rot and lasts 50 years and more in the ground.

More than 100cm diameter oak I really haven't felled and cut yet - if that's what you meant! Lp

What connection does that have, who has the longer one (bar on the chainsaw), with accessibility to the starting points?

Don't ask, smatjaz. This morning I ate three eggs with capers on stems and red onion, kefir, later lemonade, then to work. About an hour you work fine, then back hurts, need rest 15min. So much stuff in the shed, work till autumn over head. SamoK, chainsaw if pro can easily cut bigger trunks too, no matter bar size if tree not too thick girth. Key is chainsaw has enough HP and torque, then cuts like butter.

jeep, right! And reply SamoK: if you have plenty long and were at 8:00 under gondola, accessibility to trailhead sorted (that's on chainsaw and trailhead connection)

viharnik What about safety gear? As I see, you're working without it.

For what I cut on clearings as an amateur on weekends for buddies, there's no need. Different is technical felling of big trees in wooded areas. Otherwise, just clothes with helmet, boots and gloves will cost at least as much as one damn pro saw.

Me too, interested in what the response was, though most who master it have work over their heads in home sheds. But for carrying and removing branches anyone is good, just can walk hills, especially must have will to work, else....... right?

gams, what about public announcement? PZS page, hribi net, facebook......., I believe there are quite a few people who have nothing to do with damage in nature but would like to come help, but don't know where or how?

Public announcement? So you'll make the inspectors' work easier?
|
|
|
|
| smatjaz9. 03. 2014 20:14:27 |
why though? It's all voluntary basis and no one charges anyone and it's mainly about cleaning and establishing safety on hiking trails where due to nice weather there will be more hikers day by day. Also the ministry for environment and spatial planning warns hikers not to go on uncleared paths and doesn't oppose cleaning. Possibly some inspector could hassle someone with chainsaw in hands about permit for working with chainsaw or protective gear, everything else is even desirable from their side. Of course condition is that area is protected from sudden unexpected visitors, nosy people, hikers... so no accident happens. But I believe the guys know what they do.
