Hi me_pa! This boot is definitely good, just if it fits your foot. If buying for now and then or for regular use, just make sure it's comfortable so walking is a pleasure, not suffering.

Nice greeting to all. Buying new mountain boots. So far worn LS (Trango TRK). Tried Lowa (Mauria), they don't seem bad. Experiences with material wear speed on Lowa + how they perform on first trip, anyone? Relative to foot length I have a relatively narrow foot. Oh, slowly getting back to longer tours, but only a few times a year (kid in between). For local "mountains" I anyway go in trek sneakers.

Try some shoe insoles that can help reduce the excessive difference.

Ah no, I think the original insole is best. I'll wear them for a while and see, but 42.5 I think leaves too much room at the toes, so probably not. For 42 I loosened the laces a bit and the difference is noticeable, so they're good for testing; the question is only how they'll hold up on a longer tour. The only fear is blisters because they fit like a glove. Otherwise they seem excellent and very comfortable + biggest plus very light for mid-high ones, durable and Gore-Tex. Maybe someone has this model to share some first-hand information?

Hi! I bought these hiking boots - https://www.intersport.si/dolomite-cinquantaquattro-hike-gtx-w-zenski-pohodni-cevlji-427896 The boot fits my foot really well, no blisters at all, but on the last two ascents the bone above the ankle hurts on the outer side. I don't tighten too much, tried with different socks too, even put a sponge in between to cushion a bit but after two hours it becomes unbearable. Like having an iron bar against the bone the whole way. That part of the boot has no seam, feels soft... Anyone have the same experience? Please suggest how to solve the problem. Many thanks.

Yes, that happens with some mountain boots. But that doesn't mean the boot is bad. The last time it happened to me, I bought another pair from a different manufacturer, then I switched a bit. After some time, I had no more problems with those problematic ones. So now I don't change models and manufacturers anymore. I buy only what I've already tested, and especially don't listen to advice from various experts. For example, currently I'm using 5 pairs of La Sportiva Ultra Raptor. Of these, 3 pairs GTX, two regular. I also have some pairs from Salomon.

No problem, with that many shoes one is bound to fit you.

You're overcomplicating things and walking too little. The foot must get used to the shoe, but that doesn't happen the first day. With the laces, the shoe shapes itself more and more to the foot. Blisters aren't always the shoes' fault; pay more attention to socks, which are usually too big (too stretchy). I've done countless tours, even those close to 100 km in one day, with new shoes (different manufacturers). I've walked more than half of Europe. Tie the shoes firmly enough so they don't "dance" on the foot, and you've solved half of the blisters; the other half with tight socks, which you can turn inside out and also swap—left sock to the right foot, and right to the left. Klemen, with that half size, you won't have problems walking downhill.

Thanks, Janezs, for the advice. So as I understand it, it's better to keep size 42, which fits like a glove, and if it pinches a bit by chance, loosen the laces a little and it'll be OK. Better than 42.5, which seems to have too much space (especially at the toes) and I'm afraid it would start to dance and flap after some time, which I think is not OK.

I wouldn't agree with all these claims, except those that with an abundance of shoes the choice is overcomplicated and that socks are important. In my opinion, the foot won't get used to the shoe if it doesn't already fit in the store. Blisters are caused by the shoes. Of course, if chosen incorrectly for the foot shape. For example, I absolutely cannot wear shoes that are hard at the back. Which most shoes are. But socks are really extremely important. Again, not all suit everyone. You need to try different ones a bit and then choose the best. I never tie shoes tightly on the ascent but only on the descent. One pair of shoes is not enough for comfortable walking in all seasons. At least three pairs are mandatory.

Klemen, shoe size is your problem. I have left foot bigger by 5 mm. Don't buy two shoes of different sizes. But tie the right shoe tighter and foot has no chance to move in shoe. Get something "in your head". No shoes will walk by themselves. The more you walk, the easier and better you will be at walking. You need more pairs of different footwear, for around the corner, mid-mountains, high mountains, dry weather, for walking in summer and winter. Started with size 43, now 46 1/2. Over 20 years quite active. Lp.

Miha, you can get the sought-after boots besides Suvel also in Sportler and in the hunting shop Srna. I think online shops should not be dismissed.

Just something to consider... I have Salewa gojzars for 250 EUR. The last 5 hikes I did in "hofer" gojzars for 40 EUR. Which hikes? Višarje, Stol, Bovški Gamsovec, Svinjak, Slap Boka. Salewas are simply too stiff... These from Hofer are phenomenal
