Alpina has quite narrow shoes and if your foot isn't narrow...I know the problem. They pass, really. No piece of gear is so hard to buy as shoes-any kind!
I myself have 40-40.5 size too. And almost no sneakers, shoes, boots in that size. All bigger also 42 and mostly men's models.  From brands at me you find Merrell, Dunlop...At me you don't find Alpina, Salomon, Nike. Gave up on their models.
Descent though good lacing technique and what comes with practice-good step. Myself only now getting to better leg, foot placement on descents and finding better lines. Before just landed with foot like a cramp, wasn't nice next day.

Hi,
If someone has maybe some advice regarding shoe pressing against the ankle. I bought some high Mammut mountaineering boots (MAGIC GUIDE HIGH GTX) and after first few hikes all was ok. Last time I tightened the boot more (for descent) and the left (right is perfectly ok) boot pressed hard right on the bone on inner ankle side. Since higher part of boot is bit softer I suspect lace eyelet (or two) pressed on ankle. They press so hard that after about an hour of walking it hurts/aches when I touch ankle. Today tried again and problem repeated. Both times had regular socks, one thin and one thicker.
Are there some socks that would prevent this. Or some insole to lift ankle a bit, or best to change boots?

Similar problems on Teton, Annapurna boots, now wear only soft summer mountaineering boots, get in winter to Triglav, Mojstrovke, Stol, Grintovec, Košuta, Krn without issues. That light gait, comfort and no blisters etc.

maxwell. Low cut boots. No insole helps - none. The only option might be soft leather gojzerji, without reinforcements etc. But I haven't tried them myself to confirm.

Asking for advice, I'm leaning towards buying Salewa WILDFIRE EDGE MID GORE-TEX® shoes. Does anyone have experience with them? Any info will be welcome. I would use them for high-mountain hiking.

Hello, I'm interested, or does anyone have advice for Asolo shoes.
I have a problem with the heel, as it's not flat but a bit protruding, and almost every boot rubs it. So far I've had Alpina boots, but I want lighter ones.

Proalp made to measure. As soon as you have some defect or peculiarity, it's a waste of all those nerves testing a number of shoes.

I have Adidas Terrex Swift GTX and I'm extremely satisfied with them. They are a low model though and I'm interested in your opinion on using them in the high mountains, where most recommend high hiking boots. Is it just for ankle protection or why is a high boot important in the high mountains? I had high and robust hiking boots before, but they weren't as comfortable as Terrex, and the grip on these is much better.

Hello,
on my really 15-year-old Alpina Peak shoes, the sole has come off the front of the left boot.
Can someone advise where this could be repaired? Especially, whether it's worth repairing such old shoes.

Open fully, sand both parts with sandpaper, clean, apply Neostik to both parts, wait till glue is dry on surface, then press together, wrap tight with masking tape and leave 1 day.
Better variant chuck in bin and buy new.

Neostik won't hold for long by itself. I recommend that after doing all as described, you screw in some wood screws too.

Clean the boots and drop them off at the nearest Alpina store. From there they send them to Alpina where they will repair them professionally for you. My colleague did this and is satisfied with the repair. But first call the store if they will ship them, sometimes they are fussy and won't bother.
