Equipment - helmet, via ferrata kit, water bladder...

@tol Decades ago there were many more members in mountaineering clubs and mass hikes too. But on pathless terrain in summer and ski touring in winter much much less than today. Equipment was as it was, that is such and similar as I wrote. Given the rock in our mountains, it's somewhat understandable that it's crumbly. Depending on where and when. Heat and frost. And earthquakes. For example. And not only that. Rain isn't the same rain anymore as decades ago. E.g.

Larger membership in PDs doesn't mean there were more people in the mountains. Old habit where people still pay family membership for PD but don't go to the mountains even once a year. There's also some "resistance" movement against PZS, some prefer to be members of mountaineering clubs in neighboring countries. Equipment is recommended and very useful. True, hikers to Šmarna gora are better equipped than first ascenders to Everest, but that's the spirit of the times... There was real terror about seatbelts in cars too, that it's some nonsense...

I'm wondering if that via ferrata kit from Mammut or Camp at Herviss is OK around 130€ (helmet, harness, lanyards)? Looks pretty cheap, so I'm asking.. LP

Check the net a bit, which company had recalls. Then decide if it's one or the other manufacturer. Whether it's a classic or elastic via ferrata set... Most elastic ones were recalled. Mine with replaced straps is already back home. We don't all know exactly what's sold in the kit at Herviss.

As far as I know, Mammut was almost the only manufacturer (besides I think Petzl) that didn't have any recalls at all. But still, check the official data, I'm not 100% source of information. Camp I think had recalls, so need to check which model it is.

Mammut had recalls in May, if I'm not mistaken. More here.

Hi, yes that's the set. Costs 129 €. I asked if they know anything about those recalls and they said they sent them back and fixed them. Worth it? LP

I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get the best deal on a via ferrata set with helmet. Need several pieces for the club. Thanks.

Once I saw they had a Camp kit at Hervis or Intersport, price I think from 80€ up for helmet and via ferrata set, check a bit, otherwise have them make a quote.

Send a letter to Slovenian shops that you're buying X via ferrata sets and helmets, if they can put together a good offer. When you get the offers, call the three best and ask for additional discounts...

I have Arctic, and haven't been cold in them yet. Not technical gloves, but for normal tours they fully suffice. Oh yeah, they actually warm even if frozen or wet.

Hribolazec81, from the pic you got excellent kit for 100€. And you'll have some left for a beer at that price.
