Considering buying a 3L water bladder. Never had or used one, so interested in opinions if it's a sensible investment or not for 1 or multi-day trips over rough terrain?

Probably bottom line no big difference between such a bladder and two 1.5L bottles, if drinking from bladder suits you and price is no issue.

I happily use the bladder on longer ski touring descents, where stopping just to take a few sips is unnecessary. Also on tours of four-thousanders I used it gladly, as it paid off to sip isotonic drink continuously in small amounts. Likewise I have the bladder in the backpack when heading on a longer via ferrata, where you just can't remove the backpack to quench thirst. I use Deuter 2 l (quite old model) for years and it still serves excellently.

But I accidentally a few years ago via online sales spotted a backpack 45+. It was the last piece and discounted. I don't know exactly how much. I called, it's safer and since I couldn't choose the color - last piece, I asked if they can discount more. Friendly. Final price was 100 euros, because backpacks of that brand are quite expensive. Already the next day they delivered it free. But I don't use the bladder. Check the website factorystore-they have some discounted models there.
