On 22.4. I went from Mač to Kališče and further to Bašelj Peak. I walked 1.5 h. The path to Kališče is nice, dry, further here and there still a bit of snow. Wind was blowing on the top. Nice view of Storžič and Mali Grintovec.

For the start of this year's tours I chose an easier snowy undemanding and a bit lower tour. Path to Kališče without anything special, further a bit of trampling in windblown snow. Snow actually none, just blown up to 20cm there. Only on top no blowing, otherwise quite cold wind. Views wonderful. Also attempt on Storžič failed. Nice greeting.

Today's basic plan was to Kališče, further depending on conditions, weather, views....Storžič was quietly tempting us, so we took all winter gear. Path to Kališče mostly dry, snow starts 15 min before the hut, hard and icy but no problems as path edges are dry and avoidable. During ascent we spot sunlit Storžič and clear sky above several times and decision for it is almost "ripe". During short break at Kališče it starts playing "hide and seek". Suddenly summit covered by cloud, wind blows it away, then thick dark cloud covers it again seeming it won't clear today. Since Storžič in fog and clouds without views we "know well", decision to continue only to Bašelj Peak. Most of path under snow but crusty, hardly sinks, walking easy. At sunlit summit we see Storžič still with dark gray cap and think we decided right. During descent from Kališče we look back last time and what do we see...sunlit Storžič and clear sky above again. Quietly a tiny bit sorry but we say...maybe with its "hide and seek" wanted to deter us from ascent...who knows why?....everything is for something good....

A while ago I ascended to Bašelj Peak from Laško. In the lower part of the path especially from Bašelj gully to Kisovec or almost to the junction of the path to Kališče, the path is poorly maintained in places and risk of slipping very high especially if leaves are wet. Great danger also from occasional falling rocks so caution and protective helmet not amiss.

Today we visited Bašelj Peak.Started at the junction(where road turns to Sv.Lovrenc).From there to Kališče,then circular to summit(Bašelj saddle-Bašelj Peak-Kališče).At path start where it crosses slope path quite icy(careful).Snow varies a lot.Weather sunny,only on summit quite windy.Nice regards

Today visited Bašelj Peak, start Mače, via Kališče. Snow just enough to be white, some caution needed on return as forest path smooth in places, locally frozen. Today fog up to 1300m, above opened to beautiful sunny day. Hut at Kališče closed. Attaching some phone photos.
On Spodnjem Kališču almost all snow has already melted.1

Today again tour in duo.For goal we chose Bašelj Peak, start Bašelj and via Gradišče first to Hut on Kališče which unfortunately closed.From there directly to Bašelj Peak. Views of nearby area still good, though Storžič summit wrapped in mists all morning. Decided to do circular path, so headed to sv.Lovrenc, past Bašelj spring below south slopes of Storžič.

Despite not great weather, I head out. The path to the Hut on Kališče is muddy, so you need to watch especially on the way back not to fall on your butt. Snow starts a bit below lower Kališče at 1400 m.
Cloud base around 1600 m, on summit only good 5 cm snow, so no gaiters needed. Strong wind on summit as forecast.
I think conditions will change a lot in coming days.velik nasmeh

Today was a really beautiful day in mountains. To Kališče trail very rutted, locally icy, snow only ca 10 cm. From hut winter idyll, to Bašelj Peak nicely trodden path, with beautiful views and to my surprise little snow - at most good 15 cm. Right on summit today quite fierce wind, to hut complete calm. Also to Storžič with crampons and ice axe today nice, saw at least six hikers on way to summit.

Day before yesterday on Bašelj Peak… It was really hot in all that winter clothing, snow visibly melting. Enjoyed wonderful views of surrounding peaks and thick fog in valley.nasmeh

Today on Bašelj Peak 15 min too late, no more sunshine... Snow was crumbling under feet, nothing very pleasant, back from Kališče towards Mače somewhat frozen and slippery... Still pleasant tour.

On Saturday my colleague and I headed to Bašelj Peak to watch the sunset. Conditions on the trail nicely described by predecessors, I can add we caught wonderful sunset, at Kališče hut they gave us a piece of cake for birthday celebration.
