Monte Mataiur/Matajur

Description of peak:
Monte Mataiur is a scenic mountain located on the border between Slovenia and Itali. From the top, you have a beautiful view of the Kobarid or Breginj Chair, behind which, to the left of it, you can see Carnic Alps and part of the western Julian Mountains, where the Kanin group reigns supreme. To the east we see Krn and the ridge Krnčica behind which we see the summit of Triglav. To the south-east we see the Golake and to the south the Adriatic Sea, where the harbour of Trieste is clearly visible. At the top there is a small church (chapel) and near it a viewing platform with a registration box. The stamp is located some distance from the top and is on a rock about 10 m from the top.
