1. Gornergrat is a 3135 meters high peak in the Pennine Alps above Zermatt in Switzerland. A cogwheel railway runs to an altitude of 3089 meters, which is the second highest in Europe and the highest among those that do not run through a tunnel. Under the slopes of the peak lies the Gornergletscher glacier, which is the second longest in the Alps. The Matterhorn is clearly visible on the image among numerous peaks and glaciers.
