Žovneško jezero - Žovnek Castle (by road)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the motorway Ljubljana - Maribor, take the exit Vransko, then continue along the parallel old road towards Celje. A little after Kapla, leave the main road and turn left in the direction of Braslovč. Continue through Gomilsko, and we follow the road towards Braslovče until we reach a point where signs for Žovnek Castle point us to the left. Continue along the slightly narrower road by the Žovne Lake, and at the crossroads we follow it in the direction of Žovnek Castle. The road then loses its asphalt surface and leads us a little further on to a road sign prohibiting further driving. Here we park in the parking lot next to the no further traffic sign.
b) From the motorway Maribor - Ljubljana, take the exit Šentrupert and then continue in the direction of Mozirje. Leave the main road at Parižlje and continue along the local road towards Spodnje Gorče. Here, cross the main road Gomilsko - Braslovče and continue in the direction of the village and castle of Žovnek. Continue through Gomilsko and follow the road to Braslovče until the signs for Žovnek Castle point to the left. Continue along the slightly narrower road by Lake Žovenice and follow it towards Žovnek Castle at the crossroads. The road then loses its asphalt surface and leads us a little further on to a road sign prohibiting further driving. Here we park in the parking lot next to the no further traffic sign.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the macadam road, which is closed to public traffic. The road initially climbs up a small valley, but gradually leaves it higher up. A little further on, you reach a small crossroads, where you turn right, and within a few minutes you walk to Žovnek Castle, which offers a beautiful view of the valley and the surrounding hills.
