Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the exit Lesce, where at the roundabout take the old road in the direction of Žirovnice and Jesenice. After a few km of driving, pass the crossroads where the road to Žirovnica branches off to the right. After crossing the Završnica viaduct, you will see a turn-off on the right, which you should take (turn sharp right). Immediately you will come to a small crossroads where you turn left, and in the next one (after about 50 m) turn right, in the direction of Završnica. After a short descent, the road climbs slightly for a while, then flattens out, and leads to a place where a macadam road branches off to the left towards Valvasor's house. (The new parking lot is next to the reservoir on the right side of the road).
Path description:
From the starting point, follow the macadam road leading uphill to the left, towards Valvasor's home, and follow it for 5 minutes, then on the left side of the road you will come across a gate (gate) of a pasture fence, which you are directed to cross by the Valvasor's home sign. Leave the road and turn left across the pasture, where the path soon crosses the Rečica stream. When you reach a meadow on the other side of the stream, turn right (straight ahead on the marked path) across the pasture and uphill to the north-west. Soon cross a grazing fence (if there is one), and you will come across a footpath into the woods, which curves slightly to the left. The path, which becomes rough, begins to climb steeply through occasionally sparse woodland. After a while our path crosses the wider cart track similarly marked path Poljana - Valvasorjev dom, then turns slightly right onto a forest ridge, where it starts to climb steeply. A pleasant, occasionally scenic, root-covered path, leading uphill to the north, in places completely flattening out and then climbing again. When the steepness subsides for the third time, the last and steepest part of the climb awaits (slipping in wet or snow). Just below the summit, the path leads from the steep forest slope to the open, where, near the edge of the precipice, you climb just a few steps to the top of Smolnik, where there are two benches and a fine view of the valley.

Kako pa naprej proti Ajdni?

....Spust po drugi strani,  imaš na forumu fotke, do gozdne ceste in levo proti Potoški planini. Čez kakšnih 15 minut boš pri odcepu za Ajdno. So smerokazi na desni strani in levo na drevesu. Potem pa si skoraj na cilju, čav

Izredno me je navdušil ta izlet. Tudi v povezavi naprej z Ajdno in Valvazorjem. Vrh za meditacijo, z izrednim razgledom, sploh ko so gore pred njim pobeljene. Smolnik ti da krila!

Danes ta pot spolzka in blatna,ampak vseeno prijetna,strma..ravno prav da se razmigaš povratek pa po cesti do Završnice. Lp

Ni ravno po tej poti, ker je nisem videla. Je pa speljana od zadnje lesene štange - (za elektriko), naravnost navzgor na greben in potem do Smolnika. Z vrha pa se vidi potka. Pot skozi gozd je široko uhojena, po cesti pa se sankajo, ni prevozna za avtomobile.
