Veliko Špičje

Today to Veliko Špičje from Planina Blato, the path without special features except that early in the morning the grass towards the top is still quite wet and there is a risk of slipping. Views from the top are divine nasmeh.

On Saturday we visited Špičje. At some places, especially on the descent to the Hut at Triglav Lakes (we went from Mali to Veliko Špičje), considerable caution is needed. Otherwise the views are really unique.

I agree with you zlatica. Really nice report.

But we met a family having a rough time about an hour before Veliki Špičje (for the family from Prehodavci). With my buddy we already directed them towards Prehodavci, Krma slopes, Dolič and Veliko polje.

I like seeing the whole family so active.

Thanks to both.

@zokica: Given we didn't meet many on the ridge, you two were probably the ones I asked how much further to Veliko Špičje. nasmeh

You really put effort into finding motifs. Congrats. And great weather too. This is one of those reports that literally attracts you like a magnet, something worth experiencing. Thanks.

Thanks should go to Damjan. We just met.
Yeah I was exactly the one you asked how much to VŠ:-)
But true carniolus, weather was more than excellent and I have nice photos too. We were with buddy 13 hours on the go that day. Worth it.

I too wandered around there on Monday... started at Pl.Blato still in the dark, because thunderstorms were forecast for the afternoon. Then over Štapce to the hut where I refilled water, kitchen unfortunately not working yet for coffee and on wet grass to Veliko Špičje. Later along the ridge to Malo Špičje and descent to hut at Prehodavci where a longer break followed and on towards saddle and aim for Kopica. There I still did Velika Zelnarica and back to saddle and to Pl.Dedno polje and to Blato. First raindrops hit me in Bohinjska Bistrica. As always nice tour offering great views, solitude and bit of scrambling and screezavijanje z očmi

Which route is better (nicer) from the hut at Triglav Lakes to Veliko Špičje and then along the ridge to Prehodavci (then back by the lakes) or is it better first up by the lakes and then to Prehodavci and over Špičje back to the Triglav Lakes hut?

Thanks for reply

Easier first to Špičje, since you tackle the steepest part uphill. Both are nice, even if you have no eyes in the back.

My opinion too first to Veliko špičje and ridge to Prehodavci, if starting from Blato then after Kopica back to start..
My fave tour in this end or Kanjavec nasmeh up 7 lakes valley and after Kopica to car.

Tine Mihelič said it doesn't matter at all which way you do the ridge. Totally agree...nasmeh

Today tempted again by the ridge from Veliko Špičje to Prehodavci. Quite wet, not best views as clouds kept piling at peaks. Still interesting. Afternoon showers, path very slippery, esp from Komarče.

Yesterday's visit to Lepega Špičja ridge thrilled me again like every year. Started in dark at Pl.Blato past pastures, at pl.Dedno polje chatted bit with cheesemaker then over Štapce to Koča pri 7.J which was full morning, hikers ordering breakfast waiting coffee would drag. So went on into fresh morning to Špičje. Light step to top flowers accompany... enjoyable scenic.... After long break at Veliko špičje off along ridge to Mali Špičje and quick side trips to three more peaks casual. Markings here need urgent refresh, seems years no paint and in fog annoying... Yesterday fog dragged over ridge several times dark clouds threatened.. To hut Prehodavci then to Kopica start...nasmeh perfect mountain day on nicest Julijci ridgenasmehnasmehnasmeh
