The road from Jelendol is bad, a couple of ditches need to be crossed slowly. Ascended to Kofce gora, showers, storms were far to the west. Then continued to Kladivo and descended past Šija. No mushrooms except those two, drought. On descent walked through pathless forest and there were none.

bravo - but: - given that you overtook us (wife and later me with dog) - and - given that caution is needed (right?) - I believe the path is routine for you - but - I watch where I step - and that part on the exposed section is not OK - say what you want (from below from Šija the collapse is clearly visible, which started higher up... - before god forbid new storms - "lightly marked path" - my ass- Lots of safe steps!

That it is a lightly marked path was determined by PZS, it is hard to give other marks than the "official" ones. But it is exposed at a few places, I agree. That is why I specially wrote that it was slippery and extra caution is needed. Many paths here are currently in much worse condition, mainly due to increasingly frequent weather disasters. And on the other hand, due to the ever smaller number of path maintainers. Because let's be honest, why would someone volunteer to build and maintain paths so that others cash in on them in one way or another (say parking fees). Lots of safe steps

Ohoho, yeah right - that those cashing in on parking lots be mandated to also maintain the hiking trails starting from that parking. I wonder what would happen

I'm afraid the thread will drift off topic again... but I can't help but add another comment, as it's heading that way... Yeah, sadly nowadays (almost) everything starts and ends with money. Mountaineering has rested on volunteering for years. 120+ years ago the first huts were built voluntarily. 10,000km of marked hiking trails were made voluntarily. All that was maintained voluntarily. Thousands, or more likely millions of volunteer hours. Mountain rescue is based on volunteers. Mountain guides are volunteers. But things are changing here. In courses and trainings, especially level 2 (previously categories A+B+D and higher, now "sports worker 2"), it's increasingly emphasized that we're "entering the job market". And indeed, I occasionally guide for money when doing it for an agency. Why not - participants pay the agency which does it for profit (easy tours, so some GV doesn't get too fired up ). In the hiking club it's different, there we just split costs like transport among participants. Well, in the agency case I already wonder if it's right that we contribute nothing to the club that maintains the trail. I know no one contributes and you can't force anyone... but in my opinion it would be right. Maybe PZS as the umbrella organization could propose something like that. And GV's of course. I don't know, maybe they already do... but I doubt all do. And the aforementioned parking... I find it downright repulsive when local sheriffs literally charge visitors for the volunteers' work of trail markers with parking fees. I hope at least a significant share of the parking fees... say at least 30% goes directly to the club maintaining the trails. I know... pious wish. I really fear that in the coming decades a huge number of hiking trails will disappear. Even if not completely erased from the register, they won't be maintained anymore. Likewise many mountain huts will disappear - or be sold to the "best bidder". It's already started in this area... and a few more are announced. The reasons... are described...

Don't worry, trails won't disappear anywhere. They'll still be there. The only annoying thing will be piles of metal if they don't remove it. They're overdoing equipping the trails. Quite enough would be such equipment as on Mrzla gora trails. In neighboring countries many trails are "equipped" just with markers, and trails don't disappear because of that.
