The desire to "step" on the exceptionally beautiful grassy viewpoint opposite Triglav-Tosc has been smoldering in me for about a year. This time with friend Mojca we decided to finally go up nasmeh

.
So, at a fairly late hour we park at the junction for pl. Uskovnica and pl. Zajamniki. Some cars indicate that it will be busy, as befits a holiday velik nasmeh

. To pl. Uskovnica we walk alone... enjoying peace and quiet. On pastures by the church we observe Lower Bohinj Mountains, which are magical from here.... and beautiful nasmeh

. But here we missed the path from Uskovnica to Vodnik hut mrk pogled

. Shame. We went right up - i.e. steeper cart track. Here there are some nice holiday cottages in private ownership, full of visitors. We follow the partly steep cart track for about an hour, then we reach planina Konjščica. From here a wonderful view opens to Viševnik peak. Already with the naked eye we see that the summit is quite visited eek

. We follow the path to Jezerca. Immediately we notice that the path will be very crowded, as looking back we see a real column of people walking behind us. There are also some who cannot utter something like "good morning, nice day, hello, hi" mrk pogled

. And you walk on, meanwhile thinking your own thoughts eek

. The heat is already quite large, which is normal for a late hour. At Jezerca first stop. Visitors so many as if they were giving something away for free eek

. There were quite a few young people too, which is very positive. Quite a few go only to Vodnik hut, some all the way to Triglav. Towards Studorski preval real processions, as befits the easiest path to Triglav. At the top Ablanca still tempts me, but I do not decide for it. So it still awaits me. Actually I was waiting for someone to climb it so I could follow, but no Carinthian was there mrk pogled

. So we followed the almost flat path to Vodnik hut all the way to the junction, then to Tosc. Yeah, here the steepness does not let up for a long time, actually not until the top of Mali Tosc velik nasmeh

. Here wonderful views await us. We continue to today's goal. The view of part of the walked path, of Vernar slopes and Veliki Draški Vrh, of Očak and somewhere on the left Kanjavec with Mišelj vrh is enchanting nasmeh

. And mighty. The constant shrieking from Očak and its much lower neighbors testifies that the peaks are really besieged today cool

. I take the stamp, make some pictures, then lower down where it is not all "crowded" eek

, for a deserved and pleasant rest. Between the peaks we also see two sheep skeletons. Follows descent on the same path. Knees suffer quite badly eek

. We decide to descend to the valley towards Uskovnica. The path is nice, somewhat exposed in places and above all uncrowded nasmeh

. We hear marmots, unfortunately we had no opportunity to observe them. But we saw many of their homes. The last part of the path we walk on steep cart track eek

, at the end on forest path past holiday houses. Planina Uskovnica has quite a few "Sunday" visitors. After 3h descent we are at the starting point nasmeh

.
Again I can say that I have a wonderful 2000er behind me that enchanted me with its beauties nasmeh

. It was nice.

Šmarjetna glava, highest is Kanjavec, below it Mišelj vrh :-))... truly wonderful backdrop... peaks are literally calling for a visit

Unparalleled scenery... one would stay up here just looking and looking and marveling at nature's work.

This is one of those moments you have to capture with the lens :-) ...interesting.

Crossing the scree... clearly there was some rockfall here.

This section of the path was rebuilt due to a minor rockfall... otherwise the path is exceptionally well flagged.

The only fixed ropes on the entire path.

Natural refrigerator :-) ... very useful when water is scarce.

17.08.2012 A smaller group set off from Rudno polje towards Triglav. Below Studorski preval Janko and I split from the group and went first to Srenjska vrata, turned left to path Srenjski preval Studorski preval, from there turned right straight to Veliki Draški vrh (2243m). Due to my years-long wish to traverse VDV-Tosc and ascent to it, we did not stay long on VDV. Descent 120m to saddle between VDV and Tosc very dangerous, steep, crumbly. Followed crossing Tosc slope under walls, faint path visible, probably more sheep than people, to first bigger gully then climb 150m straight to summit more beside than in gully. Climbing not so dangerous if not crumbly, many holds stay in hand or crash to abyss. At summit Tosc surprised me with expanse, size. Now I know why path Studorski preval to Vodnik home so long. Whole traverse VDV-Tosc pathless, advise against not only beginners due to slip or falling stones. From summit fantastic view to Vesk dolina tempted us, from marked descent at Vodnik home we descended into this valley, hurried to Tržaška koča or Dolič then straight to Planika home where rest of our group was already bored. Next day jump to Triglav via Triglavska škrbina and also to Studorski preval-Srenjski preval-Viševnik and descent along Vlečnica to Rudno polje. Such favorable weather as now is rare.

PD Medvode trip today turned out really nice. From Rudno polje to Tosc, then back under Draški vrhovi to Viševnik and to the starting point. No snow, just traces of it you'll find, we met quite a few hikers from Triglav. When our column went to Tosc slopes, the magistrala was emptier anyway. nasmeh

There was everything, especially fog at the start, breeze on top, peaks hiding in clouds, clearings and warm sun, even a glory we saw. Path over Studorski pass fixed, new bench at Tosc junction. Thanks to those who did it. Next time probably Trentski Pelc. Hope no snow till then.

Start at Rudno polje, where lots of cars are parked, but most of them are on Triglav or on the way to it. Nice day, so no rush, and our 4-legged friend is with us, who needs more breaks, so we took 3 hours to the top. We admire the panorama, then spot a paraglider who quickly gains height, and in 10 minutes already circles over Triglav. Incredible to watch him. At the top only us three and a bunch of curious sheep and the lamb, which mom guarded very vigilantly, so I couldn't photograph it. Another nice day in our beautiful Julijci nasmeh

Today perfect on Tosc. Late start, late return, in between a thousand and one beauties - sheep with lambs on the path, fascinating views, no mists (other peaks around occasionally in fog), no crowds on "magistrala", in short ... crazy wonderful day!
At the junction for Tosc (from magistrala to Vodnik and further) there is now a new bench made, (which can be a nice orientation point for the path to Tosc), also the path to Vodnik is repaired at certain places - bravo guys! =)

Good thing I haven't believed everything pretty girls say for some time, because according to yesterday's weather forecast on Pop, I'd probably have stayed home today. At 7 am I park in Krma, no living soul anywhere, after a good half hour Vernar appears to me in the sun and to Bohinjska vrata it wasn't far anymore, there left and to Tosc.

Well, I believed them and stayed home. But I'm curious about something regarding this path.
From Bohinjska vrata upwards it's unmarked. Is the little path easy to follow?

The path gets lost at times, but no problem, because there are several possible passages, basically keep slightly right towards the summit, yeah and there are some cairns in between mežikanje

With such nice weather it would already be a sin to stay home. In the morning I decided for Tosc. Path without peculiarities. In the morning it was cold at Rudno polje. The higher you went the warmer it got. Quite a few of us at the top. Other peaks visited too. Returned via Viševnik. Nice tour, beautiful autumn colors.

I went there myself yesterday, from Rudno polje along the ski slope to Viševnik, then continued to Mali Draški vrh, where orientation is a bit tricky, especially on descent I was searching for passages as the path is not marked. First I wanted to descend directly from the last peak MDV, from where I'd reach the saddle between MDV and VDV, but the descent grade was a bit too steep, so I returned to the ascent path. From Srenjski preval I then went to Veliki Draški vrh, descended to Studorski preval and continued to Tosc. Then back via Jezerca to Rudno polje. No snow anywhere, first hiker I met on the path between MDV and VDV. A group of hikers arrived at VDV, then some more on the traverses between Srenjski preval and Velim poljem. No one at Tosc. But I forgot my sunglasses at the top. Wonderful views, snow on Triglav.

About eight years have passed since my wife and I went on a two-day hike to Triglav from Pokljuka. Back then we noticed the right turnoff to Tosc along the path and said we'd need to climb up there soon. But the years passed quickly...
Well today in beautiful autumn weather with summer temperatures the time has finally come to go see what's nice on Tosc. Four family members set off in morning darkness at cold 0 degrees. But soon above Pokljuka we literally crashed into a wave of very warm air that stripped us down to short sleeves. Higher up the temperature kept rising, so we were sweating profusely, even wishing for shorts, but unfortunately didn't have them. It warmed us most from the right turnoff from the Triglav "autostrada" onwards to Tosc, as the path is steepest there too. At the top we enjoyed almost alone, only one fast hiker arrived before us. Obviously we were really early, as on descent from the top we met many hikers heading to the summit. Below Studorski preval we quickly refreshed by the stream with cold water and headed through the wonderfully colored larch forest back to the start.

There was no strong frost yet, so the grass on the pasture remains green

Due to its small size and weakness snow will soon cover it

At Studorski preval a new world opens up to us

Kredarica as plain as the palm of one's hand.

Krma valley deep below will not see the sun for at least a few months.

That snow on Kanjavec probably won't melt any more this year.

A little cold water was just what we needed.

Right in the morning it looked so nice, for another beautiful sunny day. But soon mists started chasing over the peaks. When I reach above Zgornji Tosc pasture, mists were rolling over the edges of Tosc. In such I won't go to Tosc. I sit on the bench below Tosc and have a snack, soon a chough joins me. When I start packing into the backpack to return, it started clearing above Tosc. I stand there guessing how long this will last.
Sun shone into the steep slope of Tosc, I rush up the hill as if chased by something jezik

I'll turn back if it closes again. I hurry steeply up over steep dry grasses and a larger snowfield. Quickly I'm in the last steep slope of Tosc. Also there it's dry, I keep to the right edge and almost all dry reach the top.
I take a couple photos and already dash back, still in company of the sun. I look back, the top started slowly hiding in mist again. I was already in the last steep slope, below the Triglav highway was visible.
On the bench I rest a bit again, then slowly trot towards Rudno polje.
Today it was Tosc express mežikanje

but it was nice anyway nasmeh

On Thursday late afternoon I head from Krma over Bohinjska vratca to Vodnik where I overnight, early morning to Tosc where a lambkin is just being born.. From Tosc over Studorski preval and under Draški to Srenski preval then to Mrežce, Lipanski vrh and over Lipanska vratca to Krma..
