The most demanding mountain in Slovenia...?
|
| antik2. 06. 2009 19:14:36 |
the hardest mountain for me is Paški Kozjak joking! though, I walked there 10 hours in the sun and was very tired...and thirsty... but then we stopped where it says Hudičev graben and then I drank a beer
the hardest for me was Mangart Via Italiana.

For me the most beautiful via ferrata in the Julians is still the NW ridge of Jalovec, next to Vevnica. Kremžarjeva on Kočna is also interesting, to Rjavina from Peklo, and of course Kopiščarjeva to Sp. Prisanko's window with descent to Hanzovo via Hudičev žleb and the jubilee one, which is something special.

Thanks everyone for these detailed answers! Yes, really need to separate marked and unmarked approaches, weather....
However, as I can see, it's definitely Mrzla gora, Široka peč, I was on Mangart via Italiana ferrata last year, very, very nice path.
I'd like to go to that Mrzla gora, even better with someone who's already been to Mrzla gora.
If the weekend is nice we could go together, anyone up for it?
Best regards, Uroš

Probably this year I'll repeat Mrzla gora with friends, and my son is already persuading me too. It will be the variant Mrzli dol - summit of Mrzla - return the same way. Maybe someone will join - so take the first offer. If we go, I'll let you know! Regards

Uroš, I also plan to visit it soon, was there last year too. Variant is the same as geppo wrote.

The suggestion is - whoever goes up first connects with you! So you can use Primož76's offer too. If he climbed this wall last year, he has experience too! Best

I really want to visit and conquer this Mrzlo gora. Much better and easier would be to go with someone who has already conquered this peak, and if someone from MB or the area offers a free ride, of course, just go along and lead! That's how we went for this New Year's Eve on winter ascent and celebration on Triglav, where I led and it was unforgettable! I believe this trip to Mrzlo gora (the hardest Slovenian mountain) will be unforgettable too! Monday and Tuesday next week great weather, no clouds, at least that's what the forecast says, I can take leave, if someone goes? Shall we?

I'm interested in ascent through Hudi prask and then to the top, according to guides it shouldn't be too hard, of course roped, maybe even easier than approach from Mrzli dol which you describe as really exposed. Has anyone reading this done it?

Colleague did it (some years ago) - in Latvica slight traces of the path are visible. By his description it's harder and you stray earlier than on the other two routes (Mrzli dol - top, Matkov škaf - top). Ascent from Mrzli dol is not so crumbly and orientationally difficult as Matkov škaf - top. When you climb (hike) Mrzli dol - top you'll see it's not that bad. Return the same way maybe harder for some - for me down a bit slower - up no problems. Some places from far some sections look quite bad - but when you're there it's not! Best

A few years ago, I also wanted to conquer Mrzla gora from Matkov Škaf... Up to Latvica there were no problems, but when you reach the other side, it becomes a completely different story With my friend we turned back then due to bad weather, but finding the path to the top caused us big trouble... I would definitely like to conquer it!!!

The problem is also that some markings were painted with a certain amount of snow (here snow holds long and lots), then you have them at a completely different height than expected. But going up here is much easier than the descent. I always went up or down this way late in autumn! Best

What a strange question!! It's very relative. Depends on the person. Anyway unimportant. Everyone should enjoy within their own limits of preparedness, both physical and mental. For real authentic rambling in hills and mountains height, difficulty and speed of the tour really are no measure. At least not for me.

I agree, it's hard to answer: this one is the hardest, I consider such an answer unrealistic! The question was posed just as it was! Then a debate about Mrzla developed - which is also right, if the guys are interested in the ascent to this remote and for many years little-visited mountain (ascent to it is becoming increasingly attractive). There were some fatal accidents in the years I know this mountain, which happened when the visitor of this mountain got lost, when he missed the route. So the guys should learn as much as possible about it.. Best

People have also died on Lubnik due to slipping. So I completely agree with sonka. Everyone should choose their own tour for themselves so that there are no unnecessary accidents, there are many books describing mountains and their difficulty, for beginners it is necessary to consider these facts. Then experiences come, but everyone can see some ascent differently. One must enjoy the mountains and not challenge them! Regards to all who know how to enjoy

For enjoyers, real mountain ramblers, every mountain is interesting. The word "attractive" really has no place in proper mountaineering. On this forum girls also like to find out something, something useful and interesting.

PUHI: You're interested in Hudi prask in M.gora. If you're used to pathless terrain, tackle it, if you haven't wandered pathless yet, don't. You can quickly "get into climbing" and suddenly serious climbing awaits you. When you "climb out" to Latvice (one of earth's paradises in that area) then to the summit no problems. Of course the path is crumbly, rock dusted with scree, markings old and rare, but if you found logical passages through/over H.prask, the path from Latvice to summit won't pose special difficulties. It is true that the trail markers could/should renew the markings. Good luck!!!

Here on Latvice - below the wall traces of a hiker who came from that direction can be seen! Regards

Thanks a lot to both for the answer. First I'll try from Mrzli dol, for Hudi prask I need to study the guides. Regards

Last night I talked with a friend who two years ago with mates went over Hudi. They got properly tangled and luckily, by great luck climbed out without consequences. So mosovnik's warning is spot on! Regards and successful ascent and return
