The most demanding mountain in Slovenia...?

Which do you think is the most demanding mountain in Slovenia for mountaineering (maybe Jalovec?) and why?

One of the most inaccessible mountains in Slovenia is certainly Široka peč 2497m. Crumbly, from hard-to-reach Amphitheater, climbing tour along Dovški križ ridge, countless bold peaks and notches, from Three larches, then 700m hard crumbly walls.velik nasmeh

For me definitely Mrzla gora.eek Exposed traverses, crumbly ridge, passage through Latvica-all that practically without fixed protections! Gives a good ability test!mežikanje

In KSA: definitely also for me Mrzla gora. Gave it to me in the "ass". If more protections, wouldn't be so lonely in all its grandeur.nasmeh

I've been to Mrzla gora so far 6 times. Last year I took my son from Mrzli dol to Mrzla gora and then we descended to Matkov škaf (I repeated this route after 20 years). I consider this path the most demanding in the K.S. Alps. Most memorable for me was the descent from the top to Latvice. Then I vowed - done with Mrzla g.!! (but it's pulling me again)

I think psycho-physical condition and weather conditions are the most important factor for shaping the assessment of the difficulty of the approach to the mountain. So everyone who goes to mountains often has their favorite and their most "ugly" mountain

For myself I can say..
I've been hiking mountains for cca. 30 years. My son already at 9 years with me walked Kopinškova to Ojstrica. Mrzla in good memory (even pulled on loose peg last meters to Škaf). I did it in all conditions (not winter). For me now only descent to Škaf problematic - searching marks, overgrown path, full scree and friable (especially first part to Latvice). Here concentration, experience and calm nerves really matter.
As mentioned - pulls me again for repeat (seventh) - maybe already in 2009
In this part of the path I enjoy1

Hello,

opening a new topic namely for some time I've been thinking and talking with others, which would be or which is the hardest Slovenian mountain, some think it's Mrzla gora. What do you say?

I have the same opinion too!

Yes, Mrzla gora should definitely be one of the hardest, if not the hardest; they say it's very crumbly, poorly marked and poorly secured with an exposed ridge.

I think the introductory topic needs to be supplemented to specify that it refers to a mountain with a marked path leading to it. Then Mrzla gora could surely be among the shortlisted candidates.

Bavški Grintavec from the last Trenta falls into the same category

This topic was already discussed some time ago. It looks like it'll be more varied. I'd just add a few things. I know Bavški Grintavec (before CCK, at 32 I walked that path when I was on a course in Bavščica) - it didn't seem that bad to me. I don't know Široka peč!
For Mrzla I'd repeat once again - the ascent from Mrzli Dol isn't that bad, but the descent to Matkov kot in 2007 was quite tough for me. Maybe the very bad storm the previous day contributed to that.
IN FACT, THE RISK OF SLIPPING WAS VERY HIGH!! AS FOR THE MARKINGS, THAT'S A CHAPTER IN ITSELF!!

I think the most difficult mountain or path to the mountain is Mangart Via Italiana.

mountains are demanding and thus require a clear head and steady step, but it depends on the one walking. Something is hard for one, something else for another, but we all agree that we go to the mountains because they are beautiful.
good luck

A precise answer to the mentioned question is not possible!!!
First, peaks need to be separated into marked and unmarked.
For marked ones, there are options from easy, almost walking paths, up to very difficult climbing (secured) paths (via ferrata).
For unmarked peaks, from easier, undemanding pathless routes to difficult, at least partly alpinistic ascents (III. degree or more).
Based on these facts, I can give a more precise answer. For example, the mountain is not technically demanding, but you have to do 1500m ascent on a very steep path. Or only 600m ascent, but with 400m extremely demanding climbing on a secured path. And so on....
My estimates for the hardest, roughly from memory:
marked paths:
BRICELJK
MRZLA GORA
MANGRT (from Loška Koritnica, over Zagače)
etc. etc. etc.
secured paths (via ferrata):
VEVNICA (Via dela Vita)
CJAJNIK
MANGRT (Via Italiana)
etc. etc. etc.
pathless:
MOREŽ
SKUTNIK and ŠPIČICA
both ČRNELI FROM MOŽNICA
LOPA
VRH KRNICE
etc. etc. etc.
easier climbing ascents:
RUŠICA
all three ROKAVI
OLTAR from Velike Dnine
DIMNIKI, LUKNJA PEČ
MALA MARTULJŠKA PONCA FROM ZA AKA
And more and more....nasmeh
Oh, and one more thing. I suggest the following poll: which mountain is the most beautiful (there are no ugly ones anyway).mežikanje
