I thought no one goes to Svinjak at this time. But on Saturday there were at least 10 of us up there, including three foreigners. And one dog.

Really nice peak, with exceptional viewpoint. Already when driving through Bovec and spotting its very special shape, it attracts like a magnet. But one question, is the steepness really as big as they say? It goes ok, not too bad. But caution needed towards the top, especially now because ice on certain sections of the path. Help a bit with rock holds, a bit pulling on bushes, cable helps too nasmeh

. But Svinjak is a peak without view to Triglav. No problem, plenty of other peaks, also view to High Tauern, and mountains above Beli potok valley. Exceptional also the view to the valley from which Svinjak rises.

Drive from our end is quite long, 2.15 hours, about 115 km. But worth it. We did a loop, returned via Vršič, where we caught late afternoon sun illuminating mountains above it. Before that checked Soča gorge and wondered at some parts of Soča riverbed, as there simply was no water. Just gravel.

if you turn left, you catch all from Lopa to Visoke Ture

zlatica, I like best to prepare the whole story. Also with the drive there and back and of course intermediate stops if there's something interesting. Jože has to stop often, sometimes really quickly if something appears around the corner. For now he still doesn't protest nasmeh

And many are lucky that Jože is so patient. The mountain is really prominent. Svinjak is also called Bovec Matterhorn and rightfully so. And the photos are really superb, that's what we're used to from you. With your descriptions and photos you really pamper us. Thanks.

. I'd say the path to Svinjak at this time is maybe nicer than in summer, more panoramic for sure nasmeh

After a couple of running weekends, yesterday with my partner we weighed Grintovec and the long-admired Svinjak. Based on the weather forecast we chose the latter. No regrets. The weather in these parts held until late afternoon. The path without particularities, on the summit, which wasn't lonely yesterday, we enjoyed wonderful views despite the slightly colder wind. Since we did the tour a bit too quickly, we went to check the Soča spring. Before and after, we weren't deprived of beer or ice cream. jezik

Thanks for now, I'll be glad if someone posts something, because we have a trip planned for 19. 6., there will still be quite some snow left in the gully, so maybe from Kluž, otherwise later ... and I'll go check alone. jezik

By 19. 6. this will probably be snow-free. So from Kluž it will almost certainly be possible. It would probably already be doable now, but you'd need to see how the snow is on crossing those patches.
