No sense speculating if he's dead, forgot it, or... Pointless! The photo is there so maybe the guy notices (very small chance), or those who maintain the path, or maybe landowners, piggies take it away. Tried to lift it myself, barely could, surely couldn't carry it down alone.
And yeah, so what if everyone photographs it? Hope they do, and stick the pic on the internet so everyone can see and think about how environment is cared for... Where the donkey lies, there it leaves hair, right?

I'd go along and drive you there and help carry it, but I'm afraid there won't be time this weekend. Now in autumn the barrier below is open and you can drive by car further past the weekend hut, but I think it's too much of a load for one person. Especially if you fall and the plastic breaks... Believe me, I wouldn't want to spill the contents all over myself.

We went to Stegovnik on 2.4. and decided to do a loop. Over Močnikovo sedlo towards Planina Javornik and over Stegovnikovo okno to the top, we returned over the ridge back to the start. The path is dry, only a bit before Planina Javornik there are still some snow patches. At the top wonderful view of Storžič, Bašeljski vrh and on the other side the entire Košuta ridge. The path over the ridge is mostly dry too, only on the secured sections there is still some snow, which was frozen at times. A full-day trip , but worth visiting.

Today I conquered the second peak of the Jezerska mountain trail, the first was Kozji vrh. I started only at eleven from the barrier on foot. Otherwise you save almost an hour of walking if you drive by car to the weekend house or hunting hut. Currently it's still possible, but during mushroom season there's a closure. At the hunting hut it's really nice, lots of space to sit. Then to the right to Močnikovo sedlo, past a pleasantly cool stream to the ridge. Past the net it's a bit awkward. Soon the summit follows. No stamp. Then along the scenic ridge through Stegovnikovo okno, which is the biggest attraction of this tour. Then descent follows, but that's where I got confused. You need to go left soon after the window, there's no signpost which would be very welcome there, even if it just said Kanononir it would be enough. So I made a mistake, turned right, the path to the pasture directs correctly, unfortunately it goes completely in the other direction-Tržič. Of course when I realized I had to return to the junction behind the window. If you go up every two months you really can't get lost, but if every couple of years this mistake is there. This path quickly brings you to a forest road, unfortunately at one place it's occupied by forest machines for logging and loaded with logs. There was no sign of road closure and danger warning-I hope at least during logging they close the road. Then this path can't be used at all. They should close the road at the hunting hut that passes under the hut. Already at the barrier there's no sign for Stegovnik-I think it's needed. The direction markers also need refreshing.

Today we went up. Me first time. And I have to say, the tour is pretty cool
The lower part before Močnikovo sedlo solid, not icy at all, about halfway up we put on gaiters. Crampons stay in the backpack. Also on descent. On exposed spots caution is anyway not superfluous. We were alone up there today. So at some places had to "trample". Great that I was walking behind him Weather though... front approaching and wind after we turned at the top already really cut to the bone. Otherwise, first winter ascent this year, fully successful. Really great!

The trail is without peculiarities. I was up there Saturday, there was still some southern snow patches here and there, but now that's probably gone too.

Only two pages so far about this beautiful mountain... and everything else up there, but very few photos... Sad. In 2009 someone started a thread about logging in this area... No need to be a forester or hunter to notice something really happening here... and horribly wrong. You don't see such cuts anywhere else. Real plundering of forests. But I'll stop about that, can't change anything. First climbed Stegovnik last year (and yes, now let someone butt in on that too) through the window. Wonderful tour. Today from Medvode side. So many tracks and torn paths I don't remember. And thinking about these interventions in nature. And how nature slowly returns the blows to us. Justified. Not long ago walking these paths (to Ruš) I marked the branch from main road with a little man. Today it was gone. Not knocked down. Disappeared. Wonder who the hell it bothered. From that branch path follows tracks, orientation quite demanding. From saddle at Lojtra path marked. Partly secured with chain. Wonderful path from this side too...

I'd go to Stegovnik this autumn from Jezerska side from Kanonir. Wonder how far can/should drive with car. Years are catching up, most time on trail spend observing and photographing, so usually multiply stated walking time by two to see actual.
