Stegovnik

I like the energy under Stegovnik, so we went with Blue and Nessy to explore how far in low boots or where snow starts. Didn't stop at the cabin as logging made it noisy in otherwise pleasant oasis of peace and quiet. Turned back higher than Močnikovo sedlo but before saddle Pri Lojtri. Actually that day the path was more important than the goal. And enjoying fresh air and sun nasmeh

To Bukovec off-trail with ice axe and crampons on steep terrain. No views on Bukovec but good feeling first time up. Descent to Močnikovo sedlo and marked to Stegovnik. Crossed couple snowfields with ice axe or grabbing bushes, but snowfields over drop, snow collapsing. On Stegovnik hunger hits and I eat after long time 2 chocolate/fruit frutabells. Descent thru window, bit of snow only in forest part above window, doable without winter gear. Window snow-free.

Today after many years back on Stegovnik. Read latest path reports but still didn't expect path between Močnikovo sedlo and window currently so demanding. Sure if you know directions to follow you'll probably manage obstacles, but tons of fallen trees, other parts poorly trod or heavily overgrown so constantly hunting passages and marks to not stray off route.

And one more path impression... where's this marker leading me zmeden

On first summer day first to Stegovnik.

Started at ramp in Dola, headed to window, walked our own way to there. Under Stegovnik walls two chamois surprised us running right at us. Ran good meter past me. Well-fed! Wild!
Path to Stegovnik, except pulled peg at windows and some fallen trees, no issues, dry.
On ridge sun warmed plants, intoxicating mountain smells tickling senses! Top sit and snack. Met some hikers, incl @Trobec, hi, recognized you right away!
Continued towards Ruš, at Lojtri turned up. Got very hot! At Ruš shade break, then blind down to Močnikovo sedlo. Soon in spruce forest shelter to saddle, then up again steeply to Bukov vrh. Path a bit, then off-path on nice summit ridge to lonely peak with pretty clearing. Bukovec discreetly tucked ideal for peaceful rest. Janez dozes bit, me too almost, time down. From Bukovec straight to Dola. All steep ridge along fence, end brutal slope right to car. Nice trip, nice spots! Sorry didn't go left up to Javornik start, loop would be perfect.
Safe!

It was nice to chat a bit nasmeh

Has there been any entry at Ruš this year? Last year I think I could count them on fingers for the whole year velik nasmeh

Marjan was the first signed at Ruš this year, I the second mežikanje It really doesn't have much visit, that's why it's so dear to me.

The question was about entries, not visits. cool The latter is almost impossible to measure. (ok, lately they mount some dedicated electronic devices...) I'd say that some 3/4 people don't sign.

I last signed when hiking alone...otherwise almost always someone younger is there who gets that task velik nasmeh

Maybe more than half sign, we two didn't. I sign occasionally, especially when partner or kids are around. More for the atmosphere and showing mountaineering culture to kids.
At Ruš I missed the stamp though, as Janez collects for official card. On photos I saw the stamp was there once.

Regarding entries on summits, I believe many don't sign on frequent summits. Already due to crowd some don't sign. Understandable. Also if something happens to someone, it's on frequent path.
But not signing on summits visited yearly by few dozens or less is less likely. Denying entry is usually result of bragging about ascent, like it wasn't anything special. And irresponsible in accident case if really didn't sign.

Regarding bragging and irresponsibility I couldn't DISAGREE more velik nasmeh Lots of summits accumulated in last half century where I was alone on path, summit and path to it extremely solitary. All day noone anywhere, summit logbook modestly filled. Left without my name and surname in it, clear conscience, some knew exactly where I headed and latest return. nasmeh

The less visited the summit, the more important the entry. Prefer those peaks that have no clutter on top.

Mainly I observe that among "older" mountaineers (by seniority not necessarily years) signing book prevails, among "modern" (not to write corona mountaineers) no way. And latter proportionally more. Of course not always, Bojan we see is one exception velik nasmeh

Regarding bragging...dunno, maybe sometimes reverse. Like on some Rakova špica I felt quite proud among present entries there zavijanje z očmi

Interesting how the topic has turned. I usually send my family a message from the top with geolocation and timestamp. I do this also during the ascent at key points for locating.

It's true that long ago on Zlatorog's pastures I stumbled upon a box with entries and business cards. As far as I remember, there was Dibona's business card, and Jož Čop's entry. To be honest, I felt good back then in that illustrious company of entries.

I returned the relic to its place and carefully protected it with stones.

Similar "treasure" with famous names in the booklet was (is?) in a large stone cairn a bit before the window on PP from Kota gor towards Dimniki, Luknja peči... It was long ago.

So... let's get back to Stegovnik velik nasmeh
The weather last weekend "really screwed up", so had to quickly find something non-wintery zadrega
A bit longer loop from Medvode over Stegovnik, Mali Javornik, Ženiklovec and Bela peč. In the end a very nice tour, scenic and experiential with elements of real pathless terrain. And we could chat with @zokipoki-jem too velik nasmeh
