Hi! We're interested if it's possible to take a dog to Stegovnik. We plan to go via the path through Okna. Thanks for the answer.

The path is steep in the last part but no problem for the dog there. On the path through the window it's a bit harder since a short section is very steep, here the dog can be helped.

We two were up there on Friday 2.5.08 and two snow patches remained under the summit. At these temperatures probably not much of them left either.

Yesterday on Stegovnik. Ascent through window, after it on scree upwards sinks over knees, on ridge to summit no issues.
We descended to Močnik Saddle. From summit along ridge to a meter of southern snow, so crossing was extremely tricky until the ridge widens.

Does anyone know how it is with snow on the path to Stegovnik from Javornik Pasture?

All dry, was up there last weekend. From Kanonirja along forest road to hunting hut by car (barrier was raised), then on foot to Močnikovo sedlo and further along lower path to Mali Javornik (under Stegovnik, nice), then through cave and along lojtri to Stegovnik and along ridge back to Močnikovo sedlo and to car. Nice, dry and quite hot.velik nasmeh

From Javornik pasture, over Veliki and Mali Javornik to Stegovnik, the path is completely dry. Very nice path, accompanied by various alpine flowers. Recommended.

We were at Stegovnik on Sunday, nice tour, but the marking seemed quite poor to us, seems they're saving on signs.

Yesterday with colleagues to Štegovn'ku. Did a loop from the barrier at the end of the road from Kanonirja. Up over Močnikovo, down over okno. Weather almost kitschy, on the summit part a little baking powder, views for gods, ..the only bad side was that we had to go back to the fog to work in the afternoon...mežikanje

Not only under Stegovnik, but also more broadly in the Gorenjska hills similar things are happening.

Agreed, the worst is under Dolga Njiva or. under Turn, and under Plešivcem. So more in the eastern part.

Today exceptionally nice day... Up through Močnikovo sedlo, down through preduh. On top snow ca. 50 cm, but since it's dry, no big problems. Especially thanks to Brane who broke trail for me... In short, a day like only God can make!

We were on Sunday 24.01.2010 on Stegovnik from Kanonirja. With the car we could get past the barrier too (to the hide and feeder), further on foot... Someone had already trampled ahead of us some time ago, but not "tiring" snow and no problems. Markings are enough so orientation is not difficult.
In the valley there was fog (1500 m), a little below the summit sun. Otherwise minor mists, but still super.
The ridge is a bit dangerous, because it's locally exposed, the base unpredictable - powdery snow under it then scree and rocks... A bit uncomfortable.
We ascended two and a half hours, descended one hour and forty minutes without hurrying.
Good luck

To conclude the easier part of the Jezerska mountain trail, Stegovnik was the only one left for me. The shortest path leads past Rezman, which is just steep enough. From Močnikova planina to Močnikovo sedlo the path is not marked, but it can be followed. On the more demanding part there is also a cable. Towards the summit there are many false summits, due to which you think several times that you're at the top. The views are best on the nearby Košuta ridge and Storžič. Kamnik-Savinja Alps were more in clouds.

Stegovnik wasn't exactly basking in the sun today, at least not in the morning... Started a bit above Kaninonir, then over Močnikovo sedlo to the top, then through the window and back towards Močnikovo sedlo, but before the saddle descended to the road and past the hut back to the car.

Very little snow, only in the summit part, but still enough that roots covered with it slip properly, so caution on those couple of somewhat exposed spots isn't superfluous.

When I turned behind the window towards Močnikovo sedlo and sitting among wonderful rusty grasses looked up to the ridge it even cleared a bit, but soon after seeing the mess it darkened before my eyes! jezen Who had the genius idea to drag a battery up there and leave it???

Maybe there's an (old) pasture nearby, left from the electric shepherd..? That someone dragged it up from the valley just to get rid of it?zavijanje z očmi

Why someone carried it up there doesn't matter at all. By the way, I don't even think someone carried it up just to get rid of it. The point is, he could have TAKEN IT DOWN too, instead of plastic slowly weathering now...
