Oh, ločanka, I was sighing when looking at this beautiful world... it is not known to me and I am surprised that I "missed" it when I still had more spry legs. Is the trail long to there where you viewed these beauties? nasmeh

True, you must go over 24 switchbacks, but they are gentle and it's a walk of about 3 hours. You could manage, no worries!
It's worth it, you'll see, then you'll truly be all overwhelmed and think, this is it! nasmeh

I don't remember when I last drove over Vršič in winter, to Vršič itself already.. Snow conditions are such that it's possible, so today I drove to Trenta to the start of the trail to Stari Utro or. to the hunter's hut Berebica. Trenta today didn't show a very generous face regarding views, cloudiness around 1500 meters prevented nice panoramas in which I have enjoyed in the past. Anyway, cloudiness was a better choice than strong wind on the Gorenjska side - above Trenta it was almost warm, no wind... Conditions on the trail are good, so snow (up to 5 cm) to the hut is no obstacle, winter gear was not needed. My original intention - visit Plešivca or at least the top of Na Glavah was prevented by the mentioned cloudiness. Down went quickly.
Also chatted with Lojze both up and down, the first winter day marked as working..

Quite a few broken trees, but most have already been 'cleared'

Lojze already mentioned the fallen spruce by the hut..

A bit better views than in the morning...

Apparently I chose the wrong end of Trenta :-)

We wanted our hikers to experience the autumn fairy tale at Staro Utro too, to go along Igor's path, Tolminc's path, unforgettable notes and pictures of Ločanka. Special charm is when we choose a goal that's new for everyone, even the most experienced hikers. And this time it was Staro Utro in Trenta. Date was set, over 60 gathered, despite not best forecast, tour couldn't be postponed. We went in three groups. One along Soča path with museum visit. Second to Staro Utro via hunting path and third group to hut via old road. Path was pleasant, easy, despite almost 1,300 m ascent. Happy about meeting Lojze, at Berebica hut both groups gathered.

It was a quiet autumn day, larches already a bit yellowing, mists drifting, sadly no sun and views missing... nature still beautiful. This time some youth with us, hope Trenta stays in nice memory for them.

Can you please describe access to the starting point for the old road to Staro Utro?

From Trenta settlement another approx. 3 km towards Bovec, on the right side of the road - there is a branch to mulatiera/road marked with a sign (pic 1 in previous post). 20 m before that on the left a small parking lot. The mentioned road is closed to motor traffic.

Today the weather held up for a hike to the hunting hut at Berebica. The path is nicely cleared and maintained, right choice for a Sunday trip.

I've heard so much good about Starem Utru. But the trip always somehow slipped away. Today it came up. The weather wasn't exactly favorable, but the trip was still quite interesting. Especially if you don't know the path. And you see the path is marked-numbered up to number 24. Then you spot the hunting hut Berebica somewhere at 1500 m. We met no one on the path, nor on the descent. Some trees fell on the path and we had to climb over them. Rain drops sprinkled the ground every now and then. From the hut we continued to the top of Glave. There is brush on the path. Also some snow. Views some other time on a sunny day. Today it wasn't. It added up to 14 km and 1200 m elevation.

6.7.2021. Mysterious Trentarski konci, where you surely find something for yourself. We headed along an interesting path from Trenta. There by the little church, where you cross the swinging bridge. And past the waterfall and narrow paths that are barely visible somewhere. We thought we wouldn't have problems. The cairns helped until we reached the fallen trees and there at least we thought we were going right, went too far right. Once you get into that slope and broken trees it's best to go forward. Although the map showed we went about 200 meters too far right. Almost under the walls we somehow found an old probably hunting path and reached Staro Utro. We didn't decide to go further anywhere because the slope and pathfinding tires you out. For descent we chose the mulattiera. Although we had the car in Trenta. On descent we met Lojze. We talked with him for a while. He's interesting. He described the path to Trentarski Pelc for us. He's probably been up there many times. And he says that where we were looking for passages, two got lost about a week ago and they were searched for. Even with navigation you can get off track.
