Šitna glava (Nad Šitom glava)

Somewhere in the area between Nad Šitom glava and Vršič I lost an orange Petzl Ride ice axe yesterday. Honest finder please contact me at marinko.marko@gmail.com. A practical reward awaits.

Today we waited for sunrise on Šitna glava. Night was very dark, moon didn't shine, morning clear and quite windy. We met no one, only on the summit a flock of sheep kept us company. At the start at Vršič, we were there before seven, besides our car only two more.

A bit before five from Vršič towards Slemenova špica. At four degrees quite chilly. From the peak under Mojstrovke to the start of Hanzovo. Still quite some snow, so crampons and ice axe came in handy, especially since the snow was hard and frozen due to low temps. Further no problem, cables not damaged, except at one spot where they have been for some time. On Šitni glavi met 2 going to M. Mojstrovka. At Vršič motorbikers, cyclists. Down scree. Nice weather, little wind.

Today ascent to Šitna glava from Vršič just before 6am. In the morning two cars at parking, when I returned no space left zavijanje z očmi
Weather mostly clear with moderate wind, path BP. Met approx 20 hikers on the way, on descent to Vršič as said, motorbikes, bikes, quads, cars of course... all kinds of plates. And sheep wandering around velik nasmeh

A promise is a debt, so we went with granddaughter to climb Hanzova. On the ridge we then descended to Šitna glava. Before that we were also on Slemenova špica. Before the start of Hanzova still snow, but no problems. We were early enough that only four of us in the wall. Weather quite nice and no wind.

3.10.... Šitna glava, Vršič peak, Sovna glava... It was nice on Wednesday on these peaks. Views heavenly, all around. Such views from Vršič you don't get often. Path to Šitna glava was snowy, higher frozen. Not much snow. But morning already very cold.nasmeh

Today nice circular route to Šitna glava. Up via Hanzova path and ridge to Šitna glava. Down the normal path. Big crowd on Hanzova path, on Šitna glava enjoyed silence and great views. Protections on Hanzova path in good condition. But quite some rocks falling due to big crowd on the path. Nice mountaineering greetings.

Hello!

Tomorrow I plan to go to Šitna glava and wonder if anyone knows about snow on the path - I'd take microspikes just in case.

And one question for photography lovers - since I plan to snap a nice photo or two up there, interested in what light is nicer up there, early morning or evening?

All paths dry. If weather like today on Vršič - fog wind anyway nothing much to snap. Regards

29.12. Šitna glava.... Paths were frozen. Without crampons they had trouble and put them on along the way. Also on Šitna glava there was frozen snow. But the path is trodden, except across the steep slope where snow slides and tracks get erased. On top for the second time divine views. And met lots of familiar faces. Nice year-end.nasmeh

Some pics from New Year's (1.1.2019) hike to Šitna glava. Weather gorgeous, views wonderful. Path icy (good to have crampons to avoid slip). Afternoon met just one hiker on Šitna glava. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

Yesterday, 1 June 2019, to NŠG. Dry to junction towards Mojstrovke, then some snow patches, last 200m height quite snowy. Lots of new snow and since no one went up after last snowfall it was strenuous last few meters. Snow mushy and sinking a lot.

Today from Vršič via Hanza to Šitna glava. Snow doesn't hinder access, nor the entry to Hanza. Was alone in the wall, nicely breezy so not too hot. "Pitons" a bit rusty already but will shine soon.
Also went to Jasna to greet Vitranc.

Lately on Hribi.net there is a lot of talk and arguing (bickering) about pulling and hanging on cables, especially on via ferratas, but also on secured climbing paths.
Well, today we two also went via Hanzova path to Šitna glava, each pulled our own 70 years. And nothing is embarrassing to us, on the contrary, we really enjoyed it and had a good time.

16.1. Šitna glava.. A real winter tour, snow frozen on approach to summit. On descent it had softened and I used poles. Alone on top and enjoying. Views beautiful, mountains wonderful.nasmehnasmeh

Hanzova, Šitna glava, before that to Slemenova špica.
In Hanzova walked most of the way with girl and guy from Zasavje area.
They continued to MM, I to Šitna glava.
Also jumped to Vršič Vrh and to Poštarski dom for pancakes.
Pleasant hike as not hot like previous days.

Today (13 March) my phone fell out of pocket in Uroševa gully (NŠG). If any team found it in snow or lower, please let me know. We were first today in route and surely others went on nice Saturday to check conditions.
