Today to Nad Šitom glavo via Hanzova, descent via usual southern path. Nice weather, almost too hot, Vršič packed to every corner, abnormally many cyclists all ages and bike types - good, temporary closure of Vršič road due to Czech bus stuck in sharp turn..
Still nice morning spent.

On this easternmost extension of Mojstrovka which rises above 2000m (2087) and was fatal to two excellent Slovenian alpinists years ago, I hadn't been yet. It's like a Tacen resident watching Šmarna gora from bedroom all life without visiting.
A bit in dilemma if I'd find junction from path to Mojstrovke, but fear unnecessary. Started in afternoon heat, walked slowly, noticed shortcut with some shade lower down.
Interesting, summit grassy and quite scenic despite small size. Took some pics up top, on return to Vršič didn't even fold hiking poles and sat in Poljak's Octavia, which dropped me at parked car before Gozd hut....
The mentioned hill is in the middle of the picture, which was taken at Hudičev steber.1

Today with Tinky we took a slightly longer route to Šitna glava. Started at Vršič towards saddle behind MM and Slemenove špice, there right to Slemenova špica to see golden larches and of course Jalovec in reflection, ...
Then from there we continued towards Hanzova, at the top we headed down to Šitna glava. In one word, top weather, no wind, warm, ... lots of mountaineers.

Today in real autumn weather to Šitna glava.
Many visitors, little or no snow from approach. On shady sides snow hard and firm despite high temps. Didn't see anyone heading on to Mala Mojstrovka.

Easily accessible two-thousander from Vršič. The path is nice and not too steep. Suitable for big and small and also furry little ones. On the grassy summit there is enough space for enjoying views, if there are any, or for resting in peace and solitude. nasmeh

Along the path there were a few small sad little flowers to look at, on the summit nothing. Maybe after this rain the situation improves a bit.

Today on Šitna Glava and on Slemenova Špica. In peace and quiet on Šitna Glava, only one hiker joined me. On Slemenova Špica it was a pilgrimagevelik nasmeh Well I was already at the car then. On the path without peculiarities.

Today the road to Vršič was clear to the top (on the Traffic Information Center website, there was still a warning at 6am that the road is passable only with winter equipment. How right we were to go anyway despite summer tires. The day was gorgeous. Snow really starts somewhere at the path junction for Šitna Glava, then the snow cover thickens, on the top about twenty cm. We were the first to wade into the untouched white. In a few places it had already slightly slid. On the top extremely strong and cold SW wind.
On the descent we met a larger group of foreigners. When we described the conditions to them, they turned back after consideration. But the sun did its job. In the last third of the descent path to Vršič, streams of slush were running along the path.

The day before yesterday (18.1.) it was anything but calm on Šitna Glava. The wind was flexing its muscles beyond all limits. The road was plowed to Koča na Gozdu. A few more words and photos on the link:
