Bohinj is overloaded with cars in summer, both at the lake and at mountain trailheads. Very popular destination, true that Bohinj locals exaggerate with prices. Let them go around a bit too and think about it.

What about "pre-trailheads" for this mountain and mežikanje a few km on foot!? Or with the first morning train say to some place towards Jesenice, or Koper, maybe Zidani most - Celje, Brežice... something less "posh" and maybe interesting too... Asphalt is everywhere enough and obviously Bohinj folks defend against it more or less effectively and still "nice cash in". True, a few years ago we got rid of highway "tolls", now they sprout like mushrooms in every "valley" municipal ones, so poor mayors and municipal directors with "blessing" of councils "milk" and finance their naive megalomaniac delusions with help of recreation and nature lovers...mežikanje

Forget this Blato, tomorrow we're going to Raduha. Park at Bukovnik and up via Stanetova zajeda via ferrata then down and save 10 euros at Grohata or Bukovnik.

I don't know why such discussion and outrage about parking fees or other prices?.
The world is wide, you can choose trails yourselves and spend your earned money well. No rule says push where you have to reach for wallet with usually lots of visitors or proverb: Where the bull goes, let the rope follow too. Go to Sovatna admire chamois or to Soča valley. Plenty of variants for pristine nature visits here.

Viharnik, fewer and fewer trails we can choose ourselves. Everything is already behind barriers (only chosen ones can use) or for pay. If you mention Posočje, there's a good example of how it shouldn't be. Mangart road is simply closed and closed, because as the concessionaire shows he earns a lot only in those two most visited months, other months they use it for selling various sports activities. Let them charge some moderate price, but road should be open longer period, not have it for themselves. It was asphalted with our common money, profit shared only by a few chosen ones.

Bohinj locals could try a bit harder to squeeze some euro from tourists, not just with tolls, parking fees,... Last winter due to fog couldn't ski at Vogel, so wife and I went for a walk past the lake, a bit around Stara Fužina and got intentionally a bit lost, at same time looking for snack. Sad, but satisfied and full we left from hotel by the lake. Don't know if I can't find right info or that's it. Regards.
Topic becoming very comprehensive, which is not bad at all. nasmehnasmeh:nasmeh

I'm a proud Gorenjc, but quite critical of Bohinj folks not because I have anything against them a priori, but because the way they do tourism (if it can even be called tourism) in Bohinj just doesn't work. Lots of guests, very many bad experiences. Already in previous posts I briefly described a couple "gems" or arguments, that to them, at least that's my constant impression, it's not about guest satisfaction but just to grab money...no problem grabbing money, that's the point, collect as much as possible...but it's about principle...all satisfied. Like young couple rents canoe, pays and has to carry it without any help from "renter" first along road then down the bank to lake (girl don't know if she was 55kg); in restaurant guest wants to pay by card and waiter says no terminal, only cash,,what now?...yep, after cash from Ukanc to Bohinjska Bistrica (cca 6km), nearest ATM there.(and no mistake-no warning anywhere before or in place that only cash!) About collecting toll and parking at Blato plenty already written. And more and more.
Are we really so ungrateful and bitter and grumpy with all these experiences?!?! But yeah, better to snap at well-meaning visitor: "If it's not good enough for you don't come!" Problem solved (for Bohinj), he has some euros in pocket, I bad mood, but Bohinj could have even one more euro in pocket, I satisfaction.

I agree with John. Tourism is exclusively people, not money. If hosts are at the level with the right character and quality service, then every guest will gladly come back. I also heard that a few years ago there were way more foreign tourists in Bohinj, even Scandinavians. Another dark example is the camp in Ukanc, where the camp stays in lower star rating for long years without any investments, prices higher than the European recognized Šobc. Private hotels added their part too, opening only part of the year (previously all year), which foreigners aren't used to anywhere for top tourist destinations. Let Bohinj folks go a bit to Mayerhofen-Zillertal Alps and to lake Speicher Schlegeis - Dominikus hut under Olperer 3476m to see how they do tourism there. Send mail and they reply friendly for possible overnight+breakfast 25€ with discount, and that I'll have a very nice time there.

NOTICE. I inform portal users of some important information regarding the operation of the Inter-municipal Inspectorate of the Municipalities of Bled and Bohinj. Since some time ago I paid a fine for parking under Hudičev most above Stara Fužina (it seemed disputable to me due to numerous facts I won't mention again), among other things I also turned to the Human Rights Ombudsman. A procedure started, involving besides the Ombudsman also the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning (they conducted an inspection). Key conclusions:
- The decree on the traffic regime in the Bohinj Lake area contains many inconsistencies. Among others with the Misdemeanour Act (ZP-1), Roads Act.
- The Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning warned Bohinj Municipality on these and other irregularities of the municipal decree and called them to remedy them within 30 days, otherwise the ministry will propose to the RS Government to request the start of the procedure before the Constitutional Court of the RS for the assessment of the compliance of the municipality's general act with the constitution and law.
- Based on the findings of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning, reached on the Ombudsman's initiative, my initiative to the Ombudsman is JUSTIFIED, since the inspectorate cannot have authority on private land.

And my subjective conclusion. Everyone can think what they want about the mentioned inspectorate and municipality. I have a very strong opinion about the organization and certain individuals there. The money I paid apparently can't be returned, because that misdemeanor decision is final, and I didn't use legal remedies then. But it's great personal satisfaction that the mentioned irregularities were found and order will obviously be established where there wasn't before and we visitors in some cases paid fines for nothing. If only the municipality was so honest and returned the money to all of us now. Aha nasmeh

Don't let yourselves be ripped off, in my case use a lawyer and based on the obtained information, you won't have to pay the fine, and you know the municipality pays the lawyer costs afterwards. I hope this notice helps someone.

P.S.: Thanks to Ms. Vlasti Nussdorfer. To the inspector, I think it's Čuk, who was extremely "smart" then, I say: Who hasn't read the Official Gazette of the RS now? zavijanje z očmi

Best regards

Becar. Your initiative was justified, irregularities were found (which all authorities HAVE KNOWN FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS) but let's be realistic though. No order will come from this, otherwise it would have long ago.

And precisely Nussdorfer to make order in Bohinj, please!!! The more acts and decrees are waved in front of the LOCALS' noses, the worse it will be. They'll just drag a few fallen spruces onto the road and before it's officially determined who's guilty and who's violating I don't know what and it's final, it'll be October and f*** off the Ljubljana tourists and all the others. Bohinj folks will whine that the "Ljubljaners" destroyed part of their tourism income. I know they rip us off and I pay anyway, but once again, the path of waving decisions in front of locals' noses won't lead to any order or solution, least of all in Bohinj.

Korl, you misunderstood. The Human Rights Ombudswoman just calls on relevant institutions (and she did, kudos to her) and points out violations. The one who will act is the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning, which gave a 30-day deadline to fix irregularities. If irregularities are not fixed, the matter goes to the constitutional court. If they stick to what they wrote, of course.

Regarding the money refund, let me also mention the Ombudswoman's suggestion to send to the inspectorate a proposal to annul the decision (extraordinary legal remedy per Article 171.a of the ZP-1), which I did. If nothing comes of it, I still can send to the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office of the RS a request for protection of legality against the final misdemeanor court decision (Article 169 of the ZP-1). If I'd known back then that the answer would be like this, I surely wouldn't have paid the fine.

Anyway, I'll report here if the municipality returns the money or annuls the decision. Since it's an area where they have no authority to issue fines at all.

I'm wondering if anyone has inquired about the parking fee payment in Logar Valley... 7 EUR seems a bit too high a price to me, despite what they claim they do, e.g. the road is in very bad condition, some families with 2 to 3 children go to the valley, many turn away instead.

If you go to the mountains early in true mountaineering style, you won't pay; if you're a tourist and like to lounge around late, then pay the tourist price.

Did you perhaps think that some can't be in the mountains exactly at 4 a.m.! We're not tourists. We have small kids with whom we hike the mountains! Probably others have other reasons like no transport etc.

Tomorrow I'll bring those 10 euros to greedy Bohinjers.

But I found one bright spot: parking not guarded but safe anyway, thanks to strict inspectors cashing 24h. Namely they broke into mine in Kamniška Bistrica, partner's car at Jezersko. Where free (also Rudno polje, by Soča, Zadnjica etc) operate gangs of once or twice drunk "mountaineers" interested only in cash in cars. Took nothing from us but damaged doors on both cars. So I return where they fleece me jezen

For all "fans" of Bohinj, its beauties, friendly locals and their tolls I report, that you can drive to Planina Blato on "noble" road for free.
Fog cover persisted up to 2000m all day, above ideal conditions.
