We met under Bogatinsko sedlo. You said you always hike with snowshoes.

Always, if there's enough snow and as long as the terrain allows it. For steeper slopes crampons are in the backpack.

Really nice photos. On Sunday I experienced a similar trip with snowshoes and I must say these things offer a lot of enjoyment on such paths.

Yesterday we did the tour from Koča pri Savici to Dom na Komni and onwards to Lanževica via Srednji vrh. From Lanževica then via Vrh nad Gracijo to Bogatinsko sedlo from there descent to koča pod Bogatinom and back to starting point to Koča pri Savici. The path was still hard in the morning, during the day it got really soft, so snowshoes were the appropriate aid. Descent from Dom na Komni especially in the lower part was snow already more water than snow, otherwise nicely spent day among large amounts of snowmežikanje.

On Sunday (22.6.2014) we did a nice circular tour around Komna: Koča pri Savici - Dom na Komni - Lanževica (via Lepa Komna) - Bogatinsko sedlo - Dom na Komni - Koča pri Savici.

The path via Lepa Komna is wonderful and offers beautiful views. In the valleys there is still quite a lot of snow accumulated, so orientation is difficult in places, as the little path is under snow and it easily misleads you.

More photos from the hike can be seen on the website of Planinsko društvo Matica Murska Sobota: http://www.mojalbum.com/pdmaticams/20140622-lanzevica-2003m/smerokaz-na-izhodiscu/21793748

Today I went from Vrsnik to planina Za Skalo, past the hunting hut to planina Za Črnim vrhom and then to the summit of Lanževica, return via Oslova škrbina.

Merkurhg, this variant is something special! Can we see some more pictures from this ascent to Lanževica? Did you go more right or more left, looking from planina za Črnim vrhom? Is it completely pathless or do you follow a trail? Thanks for the answer.

From planina Za Črnim vrhom it's just trodden, only at the start of the valley there are remains of trail, I kept to the right and along the left side of the scree to the ridge between Baba and Lanževica.

Thanks, to both. Maybe just this: what's the difficulty like when descending towards Oslova škrbina?

First descend from Lanževica to Lepa Komna then ascent to Oslovo Škrbino, nice and marked path. You can go direct along the ridge, haven't done that one yet, so don't know what it's like.

Yesterday a nice trip from Savica, over Komna and the alpine pasture at Kraju towards Bogatinsko sedlo.
Here before the last ascent I was tempted by the junction on the overgrown but still visible mulatiera to the right and then descent to the left towards the path over Lepa Komna and then to the Lanževica summit. Return of course over the always beautiful Lepa Komna. Weather cloudless the whole way, summit view over Italian and Austrian hills. The Lanževica summit is really a rest spot where one could meditate a bit or sunbathe.
I recommend this route variant, as a bit of off-trail in between spices up and enriches the otherwise marked path.

A month ago I ran out of strength at Bogatinsko sedlo, but on 7.3.2015 I finally managed to crawl to the top of Lanževica. The ski track under Sr. Vrh was somewhat wider than a month ago and in the morning hard enough that it didn't break through. Although snowshoes on this part of the trail weren't needed, I tested my new acquisition. Despite 8 crampons I didn't feel the best on steep traverses. So in the last part of the trail toward Lanževica I continued with crampons. In the forenoon an icy wind was still blowing along the ridge and the trail was mostly frozen.

From Lanževica I descended over Lepa Komna. The first part of the slope was still frozen, further on the snow dry and soft, so the descent with snowshoes was pure joy.
The last part of the trail on the predecessors' ski track was still hard despite the sun, so zigzagging over the hummocks of Lepa Komna wasn't too strenuous. Nevertheless the trail over endless snow expanses seemed without end and I sighed with relief when I spotted Koča pod Bogatinom below me. Good thing they treated me to excellent homemade biscuits at Dom na Komni, so I managed the trail to hotel Zlatorog in Ukanc.

Again I spent two beautiful days on the white expanses of Komna and can hardly wait to return. Especially since Dom na Komni always kindly takes care of me.

Suzana, you always greatly enthuse us with your snowshoe odysseys. Do you have any more suggestions for us beginners at this time? Thanks in advance.

I snowshoe most on Matajur, which is perfect for snowshoeing; unfortunately now there's no longer enough snow. Easier from the Italian side, because you can adjust the trail length to your fitness abilities; from Avse it's longer. Descriptions on the link (also check older posts): http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=1402

The best is on Komna - from the above-described trail from Lanževica over Lepa Komna it's less demanding toward planina Govnjač. Depending on fitness you can extend to the foot of Konjsko sedlo. Description on the link: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=6468

Among my favorites is also Porezen, where I was yesterday, and there's still enough snow for snowshoes. But the trail is quite long (5-6 hours snowshoeing both ways).
More on the trail description: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=21&id=718

Find snow-covered pastures as close to home as possible. Now the snow is transformed enough that a few centimeters suffice for snowshoeing, and enjoy.
