Krnčica

Does anyone know the passage from Krnčica towards Krn Lake, or where to find a route description.

Description in the opposite direction to what you're asking.
From Krn Lake you climb to the pasture at Polje. Here you leave the markings and head right on a well-visible path to saddle Čez Potoče. Continue left on pathless terrain towards the almost 2000m high Griva (watch sinkholes). From Griva, Krnčica is well visible, so you can choose the best crossing yourself. Head out in good weather, in fog you can get lost quickly. If not tied to the start, you can descend to pasture Zaprikraj, it's much easier for orientation.

OK, from the path Čez potoče you climb to Grivo. Mentioned is the option of free route choice towards Krnčica. Is this meant as ascent to the Krnčica ridge or crossing to the saddle between Skutnik and Krnčica (which I know) and then to Vrata?
Which approach is more suitable for less experienced hikers who are more walkers?
One more question: is it possible to arrange overnight stay in advance at pasture Zaprikraj?

After half a year I put on hiking boots instead of sneakers again. First inspection of the campsite for the summer youth hiking camp at Drežniške ravne and then a tour along the Krnčica ridge. Ascent from pasture Zapleč to Vrata, a bit on the mule track, a bit on the ridge shoulder to Krnčica, Srednji vrh and descent through Žilo back to start.

Road to the pasture is in quite poor condition, if you don't have higher clearance or 4x4 I strongly advise against it.

Hit 2-3 snowfields, but dry bypasses possible everywhere so ice axe and crampons stay in/on the backpack this time.

Old military path through Žilo is fairly visible in the upper part, just need to find the right ''turn-off'', lower down quite overgrown, in the band cca.1900-1800 almost completely washed away and destroyed. If heading there you need at least some pathfinding nose and good visibility or previous knowledge of local terrain.

Yesterday we climbed to Krnčica from Pasture Zapleč. Path along the mule track to saddle Vrata and further under the ridge is marked. To Krnčica there's one steep snow tongue, which we bypassed on a somewhat exposed "shortcut", otherwise the path is dry. North side still quite snowy, some snow visible also on the continuation under the ridge of Srednji vrh. Route to Krnčica summit branches off the mule track almost straight below the summit (trodden, cairns, somewhat exposed but short).
Very nice tour, especially quiet, as we didn't meet a single person all day.

Interested in conditions (snow) on the slope and ridge of Krnčica, and same conditions on Polovnik ridge.
Thanks and regards

On which slope of Krnčica, it has two slopes SW and NE, there's still some snow on both, and some ice patches on the ridge as well. Polovnik ridge is dry.

Because I hadn't been there yet, because it's pathless, because the day looked promising... no need to thinknasmeh. In the morning we drove to Lepena, left the car at the last bridge and with initial troubles finding the right entry and crossingvelik nasmeh, already grinding our knees, first along Šumnik, where abundant rain shows, lots of water and waterfalls and pools are a fairy tale. The path continues through the forest a bit more, at the "fork" we turn left (right to planina Zagreben) then through tall grass, bushes, roots, rocks... and we reach the first short snowfield and then ascent to Čez Potoče. We bypass Griva on the left side, searching for the best passages to the summit of Krnčica, where there is still snow in the hollows, but it presents no problems, just be careful because of the deep "chasms", the rest of the path is dry. From the top of Krnčica we continued along the ridge, climbed up to Lopatnik, then descent to Vrata and re-ascent to the ridge, where the ridge tops followed one after another... Oblo brdo-Vrh Ruš and Vršič. We descended to planina Zaprikraj, where transport was waiting for us in Drežniške Ravne. I liked the tour very much, especially the area above Čez Potoče, as well as later the entire ridge from Krnčica onwards, where war remains are also visible, e.g. Skutnik is "completely" riddled with holes. We met no one, the weather was super, a bit muggy in the forest, then just the right temperature, plus "three" drops of rainmežikanje and mists that kept chasing each other. Otherwise, this tour is long, "requires" physical fitness, a little to a lot of instinct for passages so that the tour doesn't become very difficult and lots of water... well, yes and around there still lots of unmarked peaks waiting... it was a great daynasmeh

Rozka, nice tour, soon I wish for the described route from Krn Lake Čez Potoče to Krnčica. Somewhere I saw some marks - dashes from Krn Škrbina towards Krnčica. Does anyone know if those marks lead to Krnčica summit or to Srednji vrh?
Thanks and lp!

On Saturday I'm planning Veliki Lemež, interested in how much time is needed from pass Čez Potoče to Krnčica (if time allows, I would do that route too).
Thanks and best regards!

I used another free day and climbed it. Had it in mind for long. Start not promising, fog up to planina Zapleč. Higher wonderful day. On ridge path still some snow, but doesn't hinder much. Views great, only fog from Soča valley gradually covered slopes.

From Drežniške Ravne we headed to planina Zapleč, then to saddle Vrata. Path mostly dry except serpentines above ~1600m hit by hard snow, crampons necessary. From saddle Vrata great views, didn't stay long, wind forced us to continue to Krnčica. Path to tunnel snowy, snow hard, morning (SW side) icy in places, so we were very careful on two traverses where any mistake would be fatal. On return all that was easy due to softened snow. We found it best to climb steep grass to ridge, then direct to top, right decision. Nice on top like every top. Enjoyed views, back same way. Return to saddle much easier. From saddle slid down avalanche chute as far as possible, path much shorter time-wise. Path to Krnčica great, in these conditions recommend only to experienced.

here I finally did it... path to Krnčicajezik
On Saturday we drove to Pl.Zapleč and from there started towards Vrata saddle and on to the summit. The day was gorgeous, not too hot and not too cold.. views stretched far around, but not for long. Already on arrival at the top mists began to gather, more and more every minute and soon Krn could no longer be seen. Luckily we basked in the sun because the fog didn't reach usnasmeh, while I can't say that for Krnzmeden. A long stop in the sunshine followed, then quick descent through fog to Vrata saddle and further along the ridge to Vršič, and descent to Pl.Zaprikraj.
Short description: The hike is beautiful, panoramic, solitary... so it has everything we wantmežikanje
The path to my surprise is also very nicely arranged and marked.. so all congratulations to Drežnica mountaineersnasmeh
