Jure and Cveto, admiration and congratulations from my side too. Don't mind such and other remarks, they come exactly from those who would like to have such a light and bouncy step. I'm also among the fast ones and I must say that the love and strong mountain energy carries me so I practically fly without straining myself who knows what. You two would leave me quite a bit behind anyway, but everyone walks for themselves. I sincerely hope to meet you somewhere among the rocks, you're recognizable anyway... mountain enjoyers....

pikec1, about 2 years less no. But you know well how much I trained back then. So I could hardly say I've been in it that long. Here and there I came to a race. That was it. I went to the mountains a lot. A bit faster pace.
Now I'm here just as I am mežikanje

Thanks Vencelj!
All this is part of training for UTMB and TDG.

Early in the morning my wife and I drove to Krma valley, where we parked at Kovinarska hut, plowed a bit further a few hundred meters. In the cold at -15 we started with full winter gear towards Kredarica, intending to go as far as possible. Since we've never walked this route, the terrain was unknown to us. Below upper Krma there were two roughly equally (poorly) trodden and skied paths and we chose the right one. Later it turned out it was the wrong path, as higher up it turned into a pure ski track where it was unpleasantly sinking. Higher up the paths merge anyway, but we had enough of trampling, and at about 2200 meters we turned back and went down the same way. Besides the cold, there was strong wind in places that was covering the footprints on the go. No avalanche danger was noticed on this path.
Otherwise today there was no one on this path except one who was climbing with skis in the morning ahead of us.
Best regards.

Pohodni, I have to admit you two had a lot of courage and of course luck. Going like that in the snow and in a direction you don't even know is a real lottery. The path is well marked but the problem is that most marks are on rocks and cliffs now covered by snow. Really, you were wise enough to turn back and descend the same way, otherwise the media would report big on some rescue action again zmeden

@pohodni wrote: "In the cold at -15 we started with full winter gear towards Kredarica", so you had snowshoes or skis, which belong to winter ascent gear, so I'm surprised why you sank in!? Or, I hope I'm wrong, you don't even know what winter gear is. And I'm not judging, but you didn't prepare for the tour either, because you didn't know what conditions to expect, nor where the usual approaches run. True, sometimes it was walked through Travna valley, now past Pastirski stan, and you're not the only ones who "missed" there.

I owe some explanation.
As a boy at just over six years old I had to walk to school five kilometers away, even in winter. Often early in the morning in complete darkness I had to trample more than half a meter of snow, couldn't see anything, oriented literally by nose along black thick trunks in the dark Pohorje forest. But it worked. Compared to that yesterday's path is a real "piece of cake".
Regarding "winter gear", I admit I expressed myself a bit wrongly, as from my side it meant complete winter clothing. Yes, snowshoes would have been quite useful in the conditions, but trampling has its charm too, just need enough fitness.
The walking conditions were fully as expected, so we didn't set Kredarica as goal, but decided beforehand to go as long as safe and enjoyable. Completely safe in mountains never is anyway.
We also consciously missed the path, as I noticed via GPS soon that we weren't on the drawn path. Knowing the paths merge higher we just continued on that one.
Best regards, no hard feelings.

On Sunday 27.2 I set off from Krma valley towards Kredarica. Wonderful morning. I don't know how it was during the day. When I arrived around 8 a.m. at Kredarica, some hikers were visible who were already on the way to Triglav. Conditions to Kredarica, without ice axe and crampons access was possible (but for safety, it's still good to have them with you, in case of use). With car you can go further from Kovinarska hut, some 400m or more. Lp

Of course it's possible to sleep over, the keys are obtained from the duty meteorologists. Sleeping bag recommended.

Yes, sleeping bag is sacco a pelo. If you don't have a winter sleeping bag, take a summer one and add a couple of sweaters, pants and a blanket. velik nasmeh

Today ideal conditions at Kredarica. Quite a few visitors. Touring skiers predominated, also foreigners, fewer hikers. As Igor mentioned, now there is also a parallel reinforced footpath that not everyone follows. Sinking only on Kalvarija, where the sun held out the most during the day. Descent quite pleasant, even powder in shady hollows. Some even went up in the afternoon and slept there. Whoever visits Vernar, there is quite a large cornice hanging into the abyss up there, so caution when assessing the summit! Attaching some pics. Lp

Today zgoooood from Krma to Kredarica. Crust quite ok, I used 6-tooth crampons. After 10 a.m. it was already very hot. Descent back quite pleasant, if I had time I would have waited for it to crust more.

This morning we went from Krma to Kredarica. Crust was fine, nothing broke through except a bit downhill if you stepped out of the track. A bit after ten we were at Kalvarija, it was very hot without a breeze or cloud in the sky. At the top there was no wind either, it was really a perfect day for visiting the mountains.nasmeh Today they plowed the road all the way to the end - to the last parking lot. lp
