In Alps overall, snow is very hardened everywhere but it softens on south facing slopes in the afternoon. On Saturday, the temperature will rise considerably so take that into account.

To Turk. Rovt for sure or to there past Čmirov dol 1.6 km before parking in Vrata. Here I know they were today, but maybe can drive all the way to end

Yesterday my dear companion and I, despite the rather miserable weather in the valley, decided to visit the weather forecasters at Kredarica. The decision proved to be a bullseye, because soon after the start from Krma (due to the torrent debris deposit, access by car to the final parking lot is difficult) we stepped into dazzling sunshine. Considering the weather in the past days and the forecast ahead, we did not expect such wonderful weather at all. Sky without a cloud, no wind, temperature ideal for a winter ascent. At the hut a bit more than a meter of snow. In short, a real winter fairy tale, which quite a few hikers took advantage of and ski tourers were not lacking either. Late afternoon there was almost no space left in the logbook for a signature
We were back at the car by dusk. Both of us were happy and grateful for the unforgettable day. Another proof that the mountains know how to surprise. Negatively as well as positively.

Forecast for high mountains from today onwards - it will warm up a lot, zero degree line supposed to be higher than Kredarica so be careful on southern parts, especially higher where there's quite some snow

Today up to Kredarica without snowshoes. Some parts frozen, tomorrow even more so.
I'd just warn that from the gully above Kalvarija you cross left (classic winter route). Namely, this morning someone made a track straight to the top of Kredarica and the sheep went after him so a really nice track formed, after which you reach 30 meters below the ridge in a very dangerous area (0.5m windpacked snow, rock below).

Nejc, I don't know why you all followed that track if you knew Kredarica is to the left... Lijaneja, you bypass the slab on the right side, there's probably already a good track.

After a month and a half, yesterday I got back to a more substantial mountain. Regarding parking, snow conditions and weather forecast it was really all ideal. Since I'm safety-conscious, I still dragged half too many things, well, that made it a bit more demanding training. It could even be done without crampons, gaiters, hat..., annoying was only the frost in Krma which subsided quickly with speed and height. At 8.15 there were 24 cars parked, most probably overnight
When watching sunrise (sunset) is so in fashion. Road in bad shape but drivable to the end. Proper snow starts a quarter hour below Prgarca and thickens fast. I think because of that so few skiers. If you stuck to the trodden path, yesterday there was no avalanche danger at all. Don't remember when (even in summer) I could take pics freely without gloves. There were quite a few on Triglav but yesterday not my goal. And one more thing. Didn't notice smell from shitter this time.
