A few more hot pics for friends. This time without selfie, so no creature gets offended (as Iztok Mlakar says: even a dog has the right to whistle). Since we're on Iztok Mlakar: I wish everyone a nice merry Christmas. And of course a happy and ascent-filled new year 2019. Igor from Kredarica

Hi Wondering if crampons are needed for ascent to Kredarica and where snow starts? b.r. Jože

Yesterday up we didn't need them, down they came in very handy. Strong wind gusts required careful steps on partially icy snow. Snow starts a bit already on flat section, which is icy in morning and a tad thicker above tree line.

You can even get there in sandals... Below icy even later. Between forest and top of scrub it wouldn't be dumb to have "those little ones". Here everyone seems to take them off (crampons that are mandatory winter gear in high mountains) and ground not "spiked". Icy, esp under leaves.

Hello, is the road to Krma valley drivable to the end, without snow? On Friday I plan to take the trail to Očak. b.r. see you for coffee in the hut

No problem, colleague! Last week I got joy for this trail again. Reason? Like a count you drive to the last parking. Obviously the crowd found out, over 70 vehicles parked at the end of Krma at 2 pm!?!?. Resulting crowd on the path, in the hut and Očak. Almost like summer, just no foehns. Acquaintances almost as many as in church I was lucky and found a free 'štokrle' spot by the (only child) talkative Ljubljana fifth-grader, who was waiting for dad from Očak. Don't know why Matica doesn't organize at least a bit and send the boys some help on such days. Next time probably already from Kurja vas...

Really nice boy. But he kept looking towards the door, when his dad would appear.

Hi, tomorrow I'd like to catch the sunrise at Kredarica. How much walking time realistically from Krma at a "normal" pace?

Where is it better to go in winter from Krma or Pokljuka?

From Krma, because from Rudno polje it's longer and in real winter under Tosc is very, very difficult to pass.

Again some fresh pics for friends. Winter conditions. It was a bit windy, but not too bad. I went down to the valley at 11 o'clock. Best Igor from Kredarica
