Yesterday (Wednesday, October 21) via Najnar štant and Petkove njive to Korošica and back. The hunting trail junction is still at about 1000 meters altitude, only the root that served as a marker last year is somewhat rotten. Just before the trail goes over to the western slope, you need to cross a dirt gully twice, where the trail almost disappears for a few meters. And since the gully has an unpredictable outlet below, I walked there quite cautiously.
The continuation is in the style of hunting trails. The path is sometimes overgrown with grass, in places exposed above steep grass and forest slopes, sometimes narrow, but always fairly well traceable and very little trodden. In the forest, even though it's autumn, it's not too covered with leaves. Past the overhangs (caves, in the last one visible remains of a fire) I climbed sharply right and up over a short overhanging step, where a rope loop kindly helped me, tied to a root who knows when. On the rock below it, a red line also helps to the right direction. Up a gully of solid light gray rock (there's also a red line below there) I climbed about 25 meters up (first 5 meters good UIAA I, the rest easy) and turned left into the forest on a little path. Another few dozen meters and I found myself on the path that goes over the Skok. Apart from the mentioned, no other technical difficulties on this beautiful trail.
Šraj peski are made for descent, along the right edge right under the wall the ascent seemed easiest to me. First snow is in the scree at the edge of Petkove njive. On the other side in the gully along which the path to the burned-down hut site goes, there was about 20 to 30 cm. Enough that I sank up to my waist several times among the rocks. And I would have even more, if there weren't one or two days old footprints, based on which I could detect most such traps in time. Thanks to the predecessor! The sun, otherwise hidden behind clouds that drained my energy on Šraj peski, retreated to fog on Korošica. The burned hut looked really gruesome, like looking at old black and white pictures of war-bombed houses.
I felt uneasy and returned fairly quickly back to Šraj peski, where the sun was still shining. Already lower down in the forest at the hunting trail junction spot I spotted a faded "Lovska" sign with an arrow, which I didn't see on the way up. I had no desire at all to explore what state the Skok is in about 100m lower. Nor did I feel enthusiasm for bypassing the rock on prusik from Lijaneja (once long ago it saved me, thanks to you too, Anton!). I returned along the approach path. It went like a flash, even the annoying double gully crossing I did without special hesitation. Maybe because on the way up at critical spots I pressed a bit harder with the sole edge and footprints remained in the ground, which were very welcome on the way back.
One beautiful day behind me: sun, scree, snow, fog and just the right number of cairns on the pristine hunting trail through wild and lonely corners.
