This time summer Komna with retirees PD Škofja Loka section Četrkovci. Start of course at the hut in Savica, then after 48 zigzags on the WWI mulatiera to Komna. Extended also to the hut under Bogatin. It was gorgeous weather. Nature washed by yesterday's rain. Beautiful views.

Planina na Kraju - here is the hut under Bogatin.

We are going back down - this is a cave by the path.

First switchback down or last up as you like.

Komna is wonderful in all seasons. Today to Bogatinsko sedlo. Morning parking lot almost empty, no parking fees collected. Sign says daily parking 10 EUR. On the trail first half of serpentines lots of fallen leaves hiding rocks of various sizes. Gotta watch your step, often don't know what's next.

Dom na Komni closed. Peaks above Gracijo snow-covered, some hard frozen snow on path before saddle, doesn't hinder walking. Few hikers on trail, on return several went up serpentines. Warm, no wind at saddle, at the hut the wind started to pick up. nasmeh

The sun peeked out from behind Vogel at the 9th bend.

Only this is left of the larch needles, the rest have already all shed.

Planina Na kraju, everything is quiet, nothing moves.

Onward towards Bogatinsko sedlo, ruins of the past along the path.

Snow-dusted Bohinjsko-Tolminske mountains.

The sun is warming, it's warm, the views are wonderful.

Nice.
I know this area pretty well, but how come the hut was closed?
From my previous trips I know the hut was always open.
Is everything really going to the dogs here?

On PZS site it says closed. Don't know more. We're used to it always open.

Maybe again too high demands on keepers regarding rent.
Or maybe someone else has appetites to privatize the hut.

Some snapshots from Saturday's Komna. The path is trodden, icy in some places, so I recommend microspikes.

On Saturday, 3.2., the path was very icy, approx. 20% of the path is bare, microspikes are, in my humble opinion, necessary.
Weather was super! The sun managed to break through the clouds here and there. Still a wonderful day.
Staff at the "hotel" very friendly!!

Snow starts around the 35th serpentine, but everything is trodden, so no problems. Microspikes stayed in the backpack, since there was no ice yet. Some comments under the pictures too...
