Just adding that especially in current conditions don't walk "shortcuts", we saw how tragically it ended a few weeks ago on a path that's otherwise completely harmless...

On Sunday (13.2.) we were up there and the whole path was snowy, trodden, and without icy patches, it was dry hard snow. Microspikes were quite enough, actually could manage without except on a few steeper bends/sections. The most dangerous section is from parking to the ticket booth for Savica waterfall. There was solid ice. Strange that given they charge both parking and entrance fee (for the waterfall) and there were quite some tourists (waterfall visitors), they couldn't sprinkle a few shovels of sand.
True that some shortcuts to/from Komna were "trodden" but really don't understand why the hell that's needed, especially given recent events.
The path to Komna gets trampled quickly too, so even in the upper part where a few cm more fell there won't be issue.

Was there last week. Weather phenomenal. Extended to Bogatinsko sedlo. The trail itself is so serrated from crampons that I didn't use them. Some walked with large crampons already from the car all the way to the top. Some without. As one feels or as experienced. Regarding parking fee they won't see me for a while - 10 euros. No thanks.

At Bohinj municipality I inquired about parking at Savica. This is what they told me:
- Parking lot is private property, owner (allegedly Metropolitana, owned by Ljubljana archdiocese), charges 10€ per day, even in winter.
- Collector should be there every day 6 to 22, but in practice not always. If bad luck he's there, you pay for that day
- Municipality has nothing to do with it, except posted parking info on their site. That means no fine if you park there and no collector to charge you
- But careful to park in the lot. If on road before, easy prey for municipal warden.
Good we don't need ticket for path to Komna.

What may be read today as a joke is perhaps not far from the truth, as far as I know the Church wants back a considerable part of the shore of Lake Bohinj (hotel Bellevue is already theirs anyway) and a considerable part, if not the entire Valley of the Triglav Lakes, of course including the Savica Waterfall. I hope that day never comes.

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone was on Komna after yesterday's snowfall? Is it possible with microspikes or are crampons needed?

Based on experience there was almost surely some traffic on that path today, so it is probably already tracked. Otherwise microspikes are fully sufficient for Komna, now after snowfall the question is if they are even necessary, maybe more for the descent.

Down in the forest there's some ice and in between also dry parts. For skiers the upper part of the forest is nicer, where the marked bends end. From Komna onwards there's lots of snow, but peaks are windblown, icy on the ridge in places. That was the case this Sunday (27.2.). Regards

Approximately to the end of the serpentines it is already fully dry, further on the snow melts quickly. Gaiters or anything more winter-like to the Hut are not needed.

Today to Komna to visit Mateja and Boris. What a really nice day it was, the wind wasn't blowing too strongly, so the sunshine was even brighter  Snow is wet and breaks through, nothing nice, winter boots came in handy
