Kocbek Hut on Korosica 1808 m
|
| Janez Seliškar11. 12. 2011 13:11:44 |
Past planina Podvežak on marked path, past Inkret to Molička planina, to Korošica and past Vodotočnik. Here over ridge towards "V" and to planina Vodole and on to Podvežak. Snow starts soon above planina Podvežak, but too little, so icy. Careful, crampons (can be just small ones) are not superfluous. Otherwise foggy and thus orientationally demanding.

Has anyone maybe thought about spending New Year's Eve at Kocbek Hut on Korosica?

If you're thinking that way, here's this for info... Regards In winter, winter hikers and touring skiers have an arranged winter room available with gas burner, gas lamp, bed and kerosene stove (for 5 persons). The winter room key is reserved at PD Celje-Matica, obtained at farmer Mlinar, Podveža 44, Luče - Planinšek at Planica - (03 584 42 54), where users must leave personal document and sign a statement with safety instructions on proper and safe use of heating and lighting appliances. Payment 25 € daily (from pickup to key return) for one to five visitors (for each person over 5, extra 4 € per day). Members of PD Celje-Matica have 50% discount. We also ask that at the end of room use you check the condition in the winter room and report any deficiencies to farmer Mlinar or PD Celje-Matica. We wish you a pleasant stay in the winter room.

Yes, if you don't know what geppo wrote, then you can sleep (survive New Year's Eve ) in the anteroom of the winter room. There is space for about three people (well, if standing, even more ). Not heated, but mats and blankets available.

If you don't run into some Czechs who already occupied that anteroom

I wonder if anyone knows the conditions on the path to Korošica from the starting point before Bela (Kamnik) and then further to Ojstrica (if 1 ice axe is enough, or if the path to Ojstrica is too demanding). LP, thanks

And I'm also interested if anyone hiked from Robanov kot to Korošica (Ojstrica) - conditions

Please describe the path in words instead, because I can't see the pictures, thanks LP

From Robanov kot, the path is at least in the upper part covered with snow, so only full winter gear comes into consideration. At least that much could be assessed from the view from Strelovec. Otherwise, snow is normal at this altitude (and shady position) despite the mild and dry winter.

Does anyone have info if they'll open the hut earlier this year than June due to conditions?

Hello, a few years ago I went on this path. Markings were then very poorly visible, how it is now unfortunately I don't know.

@redbull The trail is normally marked. Best is to drive from Lonca (check it out) further up the road to the parking lot at whose edge stands the signpost Korošica 3.30h. I also recommend turning right to Vodotočnik above Stari štalami (plain where there are also marmots, sometimes a lake). You won't regret it, you won't miss much either. Then just return the same way back to the trail to Korošica. The only problem I see is that higher up snow will fall in the next days, covering the markings mostly on rocks. So you can get lost. There's also quite some old snow up there. Don't know what your destination is. Trudging through snow, walking on dry ground or combination? Lp, Janez

What is this Lonec and where is it? Can't find it on the map...

When driving on the road from Podvolovljek along Lučka Bela stream there's a sign for Lonec by the road. It's on the left side of the road. Just a couple minutes to it and it's in the bed of Lučka Bela, which in that (upper) part is always dry. A bit further the road goes right across the dry stream bed. Lp, Janez

Just a question: is there a path from the path from Lastovec towards the hunting hut on Brežcah into Lučka Bela valley. The junction to the valley should be from the path below Lastovec to Korošica, before crossing the ledge. In May I'd go circular from Bela to Korošica and back via Lastovec. Won't go under Lastovec because I'll have the dog with me and there's a harder passage in between i.e. narrow precipitous ledge. l.p.

Yesterday we were on Korošica—the path is well marked, very foggy, top wet and snow, back from 1600m lots of rain. We started from in front of Lonec—Lučka Bela. It was interesting, could see practically only 2 meters ahead

@redbull The desire was really great that you set off on the trail yesterday. You probably took photos too, will you attach any?
