I join Bruny's opinion. Bravo Poljčane markers!!! And no need to go along the ridge either. Detičkova and steep path are quite interesting enough. Safe steps!

Well, opinions differ, I still claim it's not as it should be, I'll make an effort and next time I do this path, I'll photo those spots so it's clearer what I'm talking about ... And then one interesting tidbit I've been quiet about so far, of course it concerns the markers, it would be good if they corrected the elevations on the starting sign in the forest, as they are off by a whole 100 meters. I'm talking about the sign at the beginning of the path in the forest. And nice greetings. Or maybe the elevations on HRIBI.net are wrong, something doesn't add up. http://www.hribi.net/slika.asp?pot=293091

On Saturday we hiked the path from the Hut on Boč to the top of Donačka and back to Rudi's hut, total 5.5 hours. Since it was our first time on this path, we skipped Boč because we were afraid time-wise it wouldn't work out. Later it turned out it wouldn't have been a problem. Regarding marking - the path is well marked, maybe a sign could be added here and there. It's like this - we who mark our paths consider them flawless, but when someone who doesn't know the path comes, they sometimes have comments. rgds

Well done and congratulations. But it is necessary to add that this is not yet the very southeastern end of the Karavanke. For that you would need to extend it further to Macelj/Log or the source of the Sotla river and from there descend along ,,Young Sotla,, to the border crossing Dobovec or the railway station Sv. Rok ob Sotli. That's approximately 15 kilometers extra and 600 elevation meters from home on Donačka gora. I did this route hiking already quite some time ago on 25.04.2010...Running forumInteresting and varied route, fairly solitary. If the frequency of visits between Boč and Donačka gora is around 100 then in this part it's only 10. I would be delighted if someone repeated it in a fast running pace. Once again thanks for the nice presentation of the path between Boč and Donačka gora and also the visit of two renowned mountain runners! Best regards/Bruno

Bruny, thanks for the congratulations. Regarding praising (renown). I think my posts don't give a feeling of praising. Personally I like to post certain tours that I do. I don't understand why turn towards Dobovec. The Karavanke ridge ends at the Macelj border crossing. In Croatia then the ridge continues and splits into two directions 1) via Kamena gora to Ravna gora 2) via Kamena gora to Ivanščica and further. Maybe I'm mistaken (read the extent of Karavanke range is large). Otherwise I really like the southeastern end of the Karavanke. Especially the ridges (Ženčaj, Maceljska gora etc.) Best, Nino

Pasque flowers are already in nice bloom, there are still quite a few that haven't opened yet, so for the next 14 days or even more they can be admired.

On Saturday hiked this direction, actually from the top of Donačka to the top of Boč and then back to Kupčinji vrh via konjička. Regarding markers - since my last comment some new circles have been added, but I still say that at the place where asphalt ends, that's near the hunting hut - a signpost with directions needs to be put up, the marker is on the tree towards Makol. We missed it last year here because we followed the markers and at this bend it's the only sign. No photos yet, as we only photographed with phone, but I think good connoisseurs of this path know what I mean. Weather very pleasant for this feat, only drawback mud on forest paths. Best

The path between the top of Donačka gora and the top of Boč is super marked... Whoever gets lost near the hunting hut Rogaška Slatina or Gavez doesn't help in my opinion or is...organized with mountaineering club on the path or hire a mountain guide! Again ,,attacking,, the diligent and very conscientious work of the markers in the Boč/Plešivec area!Lp

@bruny If a hiker goes this path for the first time and follows the markers, he can ... go with your hobby horse and check. I still claim that a direction sign should be there. I speak about the path if you go from Boč direction, past nice spruces and private house ... then you reach the end of asphalt that goes past this private building. In the forest you spot the marker - and go that way. You say super work of markers ... yes, really ... they tried hard and sawed branches on the spruce so now the direction sign is visible, and even placed it by the tree, since the log on which the sign is has completely dried out. LP!

Yes, indeed, ... behind your backs, you just need to turn around now and right there you would spot the marking I'm talking about - on a tree in the forest, no other marking anywhere else. LP!

LP I have an idea, need some information. So I'm thinking in this direction, that on Sunday I'd drive to the foot of Boč then run to the foot of Donačka gora climb the mountain and continue to the top of Boč and descend back to the valley to the car. Interested in the following: How many km by road from foot of Boč to foot of Donačka gora? How much time do I need from top of Donačka gora to top of Boč? Is the path dangerous or steep?

Parking lot in Zgornje Poljčane at the start of hiking trails. To the tower on Boč via Detičkova and then Strma path to the top of Boč to and on the viewpoint tower. Descent via Senčna path to the former refreshment hut Drevenik/Volavšek. From there via the Styrian Brothers' hiking path, excellently marked and easy to follow to the hut on Donačka gora and from there to the top of Donačka gora. Return via the same route back to the former Drevenik refreshment hut, a few hundred meters down to the mountain hut on Boč and descent via ,,Babi,, back to the starting point...Quite a few kilometers and elevation too...This is a variant that is more ,,ojštra,, towards Donačka gora, return a bit less - something for the soul and impressions...Lp

The word 'ojštra' means the path is precipitous - with cables or does it mean it's strenuous or steep?

|
|
|
| bruny5. 08. 2016 21:25:55 |
Of course it's the most direct, demanding, strenuous and steep marked hiking path between Boč and Donačka gora. No precipitous sections or cables. Relatively nothing special for someone fit to do the path there and back!!!
