Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana-Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further towards Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where you come to a junction, where you continue straight ahead along the left (southern) side of the lake in the direction of Ukanc and Savica Waterfall. Follow this road to the lower station of the cable car to Vogel, then buy a ticket and take the cable car to the upper station, which is the starting point for our tour.
Route description:
From the upper station of the cable car on Vogel we continue right on the road which on the west side bypasses the mountain hut Merjasec. We continue in a gentle descent in the direction of Komna and Vogel, and a wide macadam road brings us to a marked junction. Here we continue right steep downwards in the direction of Komna and mountain pasture Zadnji Vogel. For some time we descend relatively steeply on a ski slope, then at the path junction we continue left towards mountain pasture Zadnji Vogel (right downwards Ukanc). The path soon flattens out completely and brings us to the cheese cottage on the already mentioned mountain pasture.
From mountain pasture Zadnji Vogel we continue slightly left in the direction of Komna and Vogel, we follow the path towards Komna for only another 10 m or so, then the sign on the rock for Vogel directs us left onto a moderately ascending path. The path ahead ascends through a belt of dwarf pines, then descends into a pleasant grassy hollow. A gentle ascent follows up the mentioned hollow, then the path begins to ascend moderately. A little higher we arrive at a marked junction, where it says left saddle Šija, right Vogel. Here we continue left or right, as both paths join again after a few minutes. From the point where both paths join, only a short ascent follows and the path brings us to the next junction.
Here we continue straight upwards in the direction of Vogel (left Šija, right Komna) and continue the ascent on the path by which we quickly arrive at the saddle (1668 m), which borders on Primorska and from which a nice view opens onto the Primorska side.
Here the path from Šija joins from the left, and we continue slightly right on the marked footpath in the direction of Vogel. The path ahead continues briefly along the ridge, then turns slightly to the right, where it passes into a belt of dwarf pines. The dwarf pines end quickly, and a moderately steep path leads us across several slopes, then returns to the ridge, where it ascends steeply for a short time. A short somewhat exposed passage follows, then the path passes onto the northern slopes of Vogel, where in early summer we can encounter snow patches. After crossing the slope below Vogel, the path ascends somewhat more steeply and brings us to a marked junction, where we continue sharply left in the direction of Vogel (straight ahead Globoko and Komna). An ascent follows to the saddle between Vogel and Vrh Krnic, from which a nice view opens onto the Primorska side. Here we continue left along the panoramic ridge, along which we ascend to the summit of the 1922 m high Vogel in a few minutes.

Discussion about the trip Ski hotel Vogel - Vogel (via planina Zadnji Vogel)
SuzanaM1. 10. 2014
I've been to Vogel many times, but never via planina Zadnji Vogel, although I've descended through it to the valley via Žagarjev graben a couple of times.

As long as the Orlove glave chairlift is running, in my opinion the easiest path to Vogel is from the upper station of the Orlove glave chairlift towards Šija, and below the Šija chairlift we turn towards Komna.

The path via planina Zadnji Vogel increases the ascent by about 100 vertical meters, as you first have to descend that much from the SKI hotel to the planina.
