When I last climbed Mangart, a passerby gave me the idea that I could also scramble up to Krn. Until now the path wasn't known to me, so I set off to explore. Even here in the mountains there was little written about the path itself (compared to others). Well, after researching I set out on Saturday... to test it live. Early start (for me) in the morning in Drežnica. Then onwards through the forest, past the pasture, further into the forest to the bivouac at Črnik, from there soon into the wall. Into another fantastic wall. Steepness all the time doesn't let up at all, below majestic precipices. Protections, where they are, in excellent condition, where there aren't any, there aren't. On steep grasses maybe somewhere wouldn't be amiss, maybe that's exactly what gives this path special charm. Since north side, good part of the path in shade, downside was that grasses still quite wet in places and consequently dangerous for slipping. You climb literally to the shelter. And then a hop to the summit. On that Saturday, when there were processions everywhere again, there were a total of maybe 6 or 7 of us in the wall. Pure bliss.
