Macesje, Ostrv and Košutnikov Turn

This morning from Dolga Njiva via the western path to the saddle under the Turn. Then left to Ostrv and on to Macesje, and back the same way to the saddle, then also to Košutnikov Turn and down the eastern path back to the pasture. The day again offered phenomenal weather, Košuta with views. Fixed protections on Ostrv almost flawless, none elsewhere. On the Turn, wallcreeper chirping as it hasn't been there for a long time. I'd stay right there. Today really. Away from everything...

This morning I started from Dolga Njiva aiming for Ostrv. But don't know these mountains that well zadrega

(only been to Košut. Turn), please someone tell me if I was on Ostrv, Macesje or nowhere...! zmeden

Attaching some pics. Where cables are, went to top which should be Ostrv. Confuses me though, rare descriptions say protected path on top but found no protections... zmeden

Well, wherever I was - weather mostly foggy with rare short periods of "blue". Ascent on grassy slopes to saddle still "slippery" in the morning, so careful. Otherwise path unremarkable - except not knowing where I was velik nasmeh

Today again from Dolga Njiva, but this time over Ostrv to Macesje. Morning weather above approx. 1500 m great, just some clouds "strolling" up there zavijanje z očmi

Path unremarkable. Met approx. 20-30 hikers, among them on Macesje two lads who came from the Austrian side over Cjajnik and then returned via ÖTK - great nasmeh

! Lads, hope you descended safely! They let me take a photo of them and attach the picture to my text mežikanje

It swallowed my Vitergin - who knows where it took it :)

On Thursday (11.10.) in perfect weather we headed to unknown peaks for us in the Košuta ridge between Škrbina and Košutnikov Turn. Wonderful, varied, picturesque path with superb views...

You urban arrogant know-it-all, blueberry pickers and mushroom hunters are thieves robbers, stealing others' property! Forest owners have to clean the forest (bark beetle, windthrow, glaze storm.....) How often on this forum cursing owners for not clearing fallen trees, when they do they are pigs. Obviously you're one of them defending the irresponsible behavior of the heavy machinery driver on soaked ground. Thousands of nature visitors leave fewer traces behind than this driver. I'd really like to see what he did in the forest.

Today start Pod Krnico, Dolga Njiva, Western Path to ridge, then first to Macesje and back to Ostrv, Košutnikov Turn and descent Eastern Path.
Weather - morning to 8am light drizzle, then mostly cloudy with periods of fog on ridge where wind was blowing, otherwise moderate but uncomfortable cold northerly. Fallen spruce across the western path, otherwise whole path damp and partly muddy; careful on steep grassy slopes, especially on descent. Met approx. 20 hikers.

I'm thinking of doing a loop from Planina Dolga Njiva to Košutnikov Turn, then along the ridge to Ostrv and Macesje. So as not to return the same way, I'd go a bit further along the ridge and try to make a circular route. The map shows a notch ahead - is it possible to descend there to the lower path (steep grass?) or is there a rocky drop, which is why the path doesn't turn to the ridge? Below map, marked in red my idea.

Hi, a few years ago I did a circular route, just a bit longer along the ridge. Where you want to descend, there are quite steep slopes, big risk of slipping, I wouldn't go there myself. I'm attaching a picture of my route, maybe it's useful. Where I descended from the ridge, there's no longer any serious danger of a bad slip. I suggest you descend all the way to the forest road, which you then follow to the left, there are also signs for Dolga Njiva. Altogether it's just under 15 km. LP and safe steps.

Western to Košutnikov Turn, first Ostrv and Macesje.
Path full of flowers, especially nice gentians.
Down eastern. Pasture full as usual.

Checked narrow path left under Macesje ridge then ridge to Košutnikov Turn. Descended directly down through spruce forest. No more boletus, cold and salty must have been up.
