I'm opening this thread because I'm surprised by the inconsistency in the description of snow conditions or avalanche danger between SLO forecast and ITA for Julian Alps. Which one is right? Here's the link below. http://www.regione.fvg.it/asp/meteo_valanghe/bollettino/bollettino_sloc.pdf

Since I'm heading out on the tour tomorrow, I'd kindly ask if someone can forward me information about the condition of the path between Pogačnikov dom and Veliki Špičje.
Thanks and best regards

Agree. Check Lokve webcam and it'll be clear. LP

Today, as the last tour this year, we did a short trip to Sabotin via the steepest variant (as described by Sabina.7) also to make some space in stomachs for today's dinner. Nice clear day and temperature such that you sweat nicely.

Today we did the ascent to St. Višarje via the pilgrimage path. The path is snow-covered, but has a few bare sections as a result of last week's thaw. Snow is hard and a bit icy, but today snowshoes or crampons weren't necessary. We didn't continue to Kamniti Lovec because avalanche danger is still high, but we saw some skiers who climbed to the foot and skied down from there (don't know if they went to the top).
Nice greetings and many nice tours in the new year.

Yesterday we also started from Svino and I must warn that due to low temperatures the snow was frozen. Just above Svinska planina it was still quite dangerous for slipping. Sharpedge, now I know whose footprints were on the trail.nasmeh Regards.

Yesterday we climbed Gradiška Tour via the easier variant and continued the path to Abram. Conditions are ideal, rock dry and temperature already spring-like. I would warn that on the path from the top of G.t. to Abram, (somewhere in the middle) orientation is somewhat difficult as there are very few trail markers. Return we did via Konj towards Podnanos and connected to the gravel road that crosses the slope towards the church of St. Nicholas and then on the well-marked path to the starting point. No bears on the pathvelik nasmeh

Mr. šodrovec, I noticed, but I have the feeling (maybe wrong), that there are considerably fewer of his posts since some on this forum went after him with a whole series of criticisms. Anyway, I don't want to come across as overly critical. Thanks to you and viharnik. Best regards

It's nice to see everyone philosophizing about reasons and situations contributing to accidents in the mountains. The nicest is to "mock" the mountain rescuer, as if he's doing self-promotion. On Friday the 12th at noon I was at the funeral of a friend who had an accident on Krn on the 7th. He was fun, never took risk as life's goal, climbed many things and skied many, but had an accident in still unexplained conditions (wind, slip...). Mountain rescuers, since there was no more help, enabled his return to the valley. I've been hiking in mountains for some years and it happens to everyone to misjudge conditions or terrain situation. Most get out without major problems, someone pays for all. I'd just ask that this forum be directed to providing data on conditions (that helps most those heading to mountains), because empty chatter about accident reasons doesn't help any of us. On this forum, what bothers me most is that you pushed out "triglavski" because he posted too many messages on mountain conditions and gave impression of "self-promoting". His detailed reports surely contributed to someone deciding correctly to do some tour or postpone to another date. (valid at least for me). Shame there's no more "self-promoters" on this forum.
Best regards.

I was also on Matajur on Saturday but starting from Jerep village. There's still some snow on the initial part but visibly melting with rising temperature. But I want to warn that from the exit of the forest (at the alpine pastures) all the way to the Slovenian hut the snow is still frozen and crampons are not at all superfluous. I returned around 14 o'clock and it started snowing.

Yesterday I did the ascent from Razdrto via the steep path and below the summit chose the right variant and along the ridge to the top. For the descent, the easier path from the hut towards St. Hieronymus church and just before it turns left and descends steeply to the starting point. Already the lower part is icy, upper (right path and ridge) pure ice rink. At the top, at the signpost, better choose left direction. There's quite some snow on the path, upper section windblown to the ground and icy in places. Alfaromeo155 definitely don't go without crampons and choose rather the easier path. Yesterday I saw quite some people in trouble without crampons. lp

I was up there yesterday, start in Avsa and via Beneska path to the summit. Foggy, on the ridge and summit visibility very poor and strong wind. Practically no snow, but to the delight of visitors Dom na Matajurju (Benecija alpine family) is open on Saturdays and Sundays.

the path from triglavski to Zasavska is normally passable, the descent to Trenta via pl. Lepoča is snow-free too. I send greetings to Silva from Zasavska koča and the other caretakers for their friendliness and recommend visiting the hut to everyone. Best regards

Many thanks for the info Silva. Best regards and see you tomorrow.

I mean Zasavska koča on Prehodavcih. Sorry for the mistake
