On Snežnik, skiing from Sviščaki along the hiking trail is the worst choice. The traverse from the hut to the ridge is often icy and yesterday some almost fell. Some poles flew into the basin below the hut, the owner managed to hold on. A snowboarder fared the worst, who tried to cross this traverse and due to his own mistake or inexperience slipped and ended up on the plain below in a couple of seconds. Luckily there's really a lot of snow and the terrain is mostly smoothed out, so he got up and rode towards Sviščaki.
We skied the southern side, where there's mostly wind-blown snow, just a bit of ice that's easy to cross. From the forest edge ascent to Mali Snežnik and from there west through forest and clearings to Grda draga. From Grda draga it's a short walk along the road to the car at Sviščaki.
