History: The hut stands on a small plain at Zeleniško sedlo between the northern walls of Begunjščica and the southern slopes of the border ridge Na Možeh. The first hut on Zelenica was built in 1929 by five private individuals, but they refused to rent it to the Tržič branch of SPD; the hut was burned down during the occupation. In 1950, workers from the militia school then located in Begunje began building the mountain hut; the unfinished hut was taken over on lease by PD Tržič on 15 December 1952, which made it provisionally usable and opened it the following year. By an agreement between RSNZ, the owner of the building, and PZS, PD Tržič acquired permanent ownership of the facility on 24 July 1962. After taking over, the station was fully completed and equipped and solemnly opened on 19 January 1966. In 1992, they added an extension over the entrance, thereby gaining a classroom. The hut completely burned down in December 1999. The society rebuilt it and it has been open again since 2011.
The hut also has the Mountaineering Educational Centre Zelenica, managed by Stanko Koblar, 040 627 808.
Views: From the hut or from some nearby vantage point, the view is limited due to nearby peaks and ridges, but for that reason the view of the immediate surroundings is all the more beautiful. From the nearby upper chairlift station, the view opens onto the rocky plateau between the Ljubeljščica ridge to the north and the Begunjščica walls on the southern side of the plateau, along which the chairlift runs, and further towards the Šentanska valley, above which the western part of Košuta rises; the entire southern side is filled by the walls of Begunjščica; on the western side is the undulating Zelenica valley, above which rises Srednji vrh, obscuring the view towards Stol; to the northwest is Vrtača; the northern side is bordered by the Na Možeh ridge. If you climb to the vantage peak of the ridge, a beautiful view opens onto the hilly Carinthian landscape towards the Drava.
