Description of peak:
Castle Stari grad Kamnik, sometimes called Zgornji grad (Oberstain), is located on a scenic peak to the east of Kamnik called Krniška gora (Krniška Mountain). Today, only the ruins of the castle, first mentioned in the 12th century, remain on the top of Krniška Gora. The ruins of the former castle are also the site of the Grof Andeš guest house, which is open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. From the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, Kamnik, Gorenjska and the Ljubljana basin. In good visibility, the view reaches as far as Snežnik and Triglav.
