Zadnja Trenta (Flori) - Veliki Ozebnik (via zavetišče pod Špičkom)

Access to the starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, go over the Vršič pass towards Bovec or vice versa, but only as far as the 49th serpentine of the Ruska cesta (near the village of Trenta). Here, take a side road towards the source of the Soča River. After a short climb, the road quickly leads to a parking area in front of a hut at the source of the Soča River, and we continue to the left over a bridge and follow the road to a parking area at the end of the road (at the parking area, we see the mountain signs for Bavški Grintavec, the waterfalls of the Suhega potok and Jalovec).

Path description:
From the parking lot, turn right on the footpath in the direction of Jalovec and the shelter under Špičko (the left path leads to Bavški Grintavec). The path from which we initially open a beautiful view of the already mentioned Bavški Grintavec, quickly passes into a dense forest, where it begins to climb steeply. The steep path, which almost all the time passes through the forest, leads us after about an hour and a half of walking to a crossroads, where we continue on the left path in the direction of Zavetišče pod Špičkom (to the right Jalovec, Mali kot and Jalovška škrbina, both paths are marked). The way forward is slightly laid for a while, and then begins to climb steeply again, this time through an occasionally increasingly sparse forest. Higher up, the forest becomes even more sparse and the path starts to open up to beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. Only a little further on, we reach a less visible crossroads, where a marked, but slightly sloping path to Bavški Grintavec branches off to the left.
Continue straight ahead towards the shelter under Špičkom along the path which turns into lane of dwarf pines. Continue climbing for some time through dwarf pines and then join the path from the Vršič Pass.
Continue straight ahead towards the shelter under Špičko, following the path that turns into the area of high-lying plateau. The path from which we have beautiful views of the peaks above Zgornje Posočjem, but higher up leads us to a small crossroads, where the path to Jalovec branches off to the right. Continue straight ahead and follow the path along which you will notice some interesting inscriptions (verses) and within a few minutes you will reach the shelter under Špičko.
From here, continue to the right slightly down towards Jalovec, past the rock with an interesting inscription to the entrance to the more difficult part of the trail (you can also reach here by a trail that does not climb up to the shelter and is about 15 minutes shorter). The way forward climbs up the initially relatively well protected rock ridge, and then climbs steeply along the wall of the lesser-known Velikého Ozebnik (Big Ozebnik). The steepness then gradually eases and the route turns slightly to the right, where it crosses the steep and slip-prone slopes below Veliki Ozebnik. The path on this part is less well protected and very exposed to falling rocks (helmet is compulsory). The path onwards crosses an even shorter exposed ravine and leads us into a softer world of grasses. Just a few steps after the ravine, leave the marked path and continue left along the pathless world. Continue climbing on the right side of the ravine on very steep ground (high risk of rockfall). After 20 minutes of easy climbing, which does not exceed level 1, you reach the top of Veliki Ozebnik.
Orientation in the last part is difficult and there is a high risk of falling rocks.
