Velika Kostrevnica - Kožljevec

Access to the starting point:
We drive to Litija, where we continue our drive to Šmartno pri Litija. There, follow signs for Gabrovka and Radeče, but only as far as the hamlet of Bajernik in the village of Mala Kostrevnica. Turn right at the crossroads and follow the road to Velika Kostrevnica, where you park near the fire station.

Path description:
At the chapel in front of the fire station in Velika Kostrevnica, you can see the first mountain signs and the signs of the Slovenian Touring Cycling Route. From here we follow the road towards Lupinica, but only for a few metres, as the signs soon direct us to the sometimes quite steep and also narrow road between the houses - in the first part of the route we follow the signs for Tisje. Higher up, the road levels out a bit, and after the end of the village Velika Kostrevnica we pass a small quarry and after a few minutes of further walking we arrive in the village of Jelša. After passing the first few houses in the village, cross the main road Velika Kostrevnica - Liberga, where you will notice that the Levstik trail from Litija to Čatež also runs along this part of the trail. Continue past the butcher's shop and the inn on your right, where the asphalt road slowly turns into a forest path. We are still walking in the direction of Tisje, or the signs for "Tisje hike", and after a few minutes we climb up to the ridge trail. Here you pass a bee farm, a few (holiday) cottages or brick houses and the Church of St. Mohorj and Fortunat, which you can see a little lower down. When the macadam road we are on becomes asphalt again, we soon turn slightly left again onto the macadam road, which leads us past the next few houses on the right and turns into a narrow forest track. Signposts "Pohod Tisje" (Tisje Trail) guide you along this beautifully beaten track, mostly on the right side of the ridge, but a little higher up you join a wider forest track, where you turn left. After a few steps, the path splits again - the right one is marked with Knafelč's markings and leads on along the top of the ridge towards Tisje, while we stop following this path here and head slightly to the left on an unmarked path. At the same time we start to descend a little, and then it goes slightly to the left all the way and turns into a wooded ridge. The path eventually narrows a little, but it is still easy to follow. On this ridge path we will soon notice that the Draga quarry is located on our left, which we are later reminded of by warnings on trees along the path. Above the quarry, we have a beautiful view of the village of Cerovica and the surrounding hills, and we have only a few metres to the top of the forested Kožljevec.
