Trate (Blejska Dobrava) - Boršt

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, after the exit Jesenice East (Lipce, Sp. Gorje) turn left at the junction, in the direction of Sp. Gorje, and enter the motorway underpass. After the second underpass (railway), you will come to the next junction, where you turn left, uphill towards Blejska Dobrava. Towards the top of the hill, you have to be careful, because as soon as the road is level, you turn right at right angles onto a side road that climbs gently between the houses and then turns left. Drive only a short distance to where the asphalt ends and park on the left side of the road if possible. You can continue driving to the upper part of the village called Trate, which is not far further along the road.

Path description:
We are on a dirt road. This soon turns back to asphalt and soon leads us to a settlement, where we first see the right fork at the first crossroads. After a slight downhill, there is a second crossroads, where you turn right past a trough (there is a sign "Vintgar" along the way), and then immediately afterwards slightly left, between houses. Shortly afterwards, when the road becomes cart track, you will encounter logging trail on the right, which you should follow, and continue uphill, across a short lane of meadow into the woods. In a short logging trail it turns left and climbs steeply towards the summit. When the steepness eases a little, you come to a crossroads where you continue left. Higher up, after a right turn, there is a second crossroads, where you also take the left, and continue climbing. When the steepness eases again, at the third crossroads, overlook the left fork and continue straight ahead, shortly afterwards turning left at the next crossroads onto logging trail, which climbs steeply towards the summit. As you climb higher out of the forest, you see another left fork logging trail, and the path soon leads to the plain below the cut eastern slope of Boršt. Turn right here, and after a slight ascent, logging trail quickly leads us into the forest, where there is a crossroads at the bend in the path (before it descends). Here, take a perpendicular left onto logging trail, which climbs steeply up the north-eastern slope of Boršt. On the trunk of one of the spruces you may notice a "Notice" to walkers. During the steeper ascent, keep to the right side of the "marked direction" mentioned in the notice, which means that you do not walk along logging trail all the time, but occasionally along the route to its right, which is slightly sloping all the way to the top (walking along logging trail will also take you to your destination). As the top of Boršt does not offer us a special view of the valley due to the trees, we can enjoy it on the eastern slope, a few metres lower. Here we can see all the way from Pustý rovt on the left, through Karawanks and part of the Kamnik Alps, and the vast Ljubljana basin, to the slopes of Jelovice on the right.
