Tonkina koča na Vršiču - Poštarski dom na Vršiču (on old road)

Access to the starting point:
From Kranjska Gora take the road leading over the Vršič pass to Bovec or vice versa. Between the 16th and 17th serpentine of the Vršiška cesta you will reach Tonka's hut, near which you park in the roadside parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, walk first to Tonka's hut, and from there continue along the old road leading to the Postman's Home on Vršič. The road is quite slippery, and from time to time offers a nice view of Špik and the surrounding mountains. At the first left serpentine, an unmarked path branches off to the right towards Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču, and we continue along the old road or wider mule track. Higher up, the marked path from Erjavčeva hut joins us from the right, and we continue to enjoy more and more beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and outcrops. On one of the serpentines, the path towards Prisojnik (the path through the Front Prisojnik Window) continues in a straight line, and we then reach a levelling in front of the Postman's House on Vršič in a few more serpentines. From here it is only a short walk and the path leads to the Postman's Home.
