Tone Čufar square (Jesenice) - Kalvarija above Jesenice (steep path)

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Lipce, where you turn right towards Jesenice. In the Slovenski Javornik settlement, at the junction with the traffic light, turn left towards the town centre. At the second traffic-lighted junction (by the gymnasium) turn sharp right, back and follow Tomšičeva cesta, passing the primary school on the left. There is a small crossroads where you turn right and go down a small ramp, and immediately afterwards turn right again into a large parking lot behind the Tonet Čufar Theatre.

Path description:
From the parking lot, follow the road back to the junction near the primary school on the left, turn right and continue along Tomšičeva cesta eastwards. You will soon reach the bus stop, where you must cross the road at the end of the latter. On the other side of the road, you will come to a roadside scarp with a passageway with steps. These lead up into the village, where you pass a few houses and continue straight uphill towards the forest. A little higher up, you will come to a grassy area where there is an overgrown path into the forest. This leads us past an old water reservoir, similar to a shelter, into the woods, where we come across a slightly larger, fenced water reservoir. Pass this on the right, and shortly you will come across a cross path, which you step on and follow to the left, steeper uphill. The path leads us for some time through small roundabouts and steeply uphill to the north-west. Caution is needed in some parts when descending in snow or wet conditions. When the steepness eases, the path turns slightly right, onto the western slope of the hill, from where it climbs in the same, slightly right turn to the top of Kalvarija on our right. Here you will find a wooden chapel with a register and a bench.
