Spodnje Stranice (graves of hundred hostages) - Stolpnik (by road)

Access to the starting point:
a) Leave the Ljubljana - Maribor motorway at exit Celje East, then follow the signs for Vojnik and then Frankolovo and Slovenske Konjice. Follow the road to Spodnje Stranice, where you will see a parking lot on the left side of the road, next to the red mountain direction signs.
b) Leave the Maribor - Ljubljana motorway at the Slovenske Konjice exit, then follow the signs for Slovenske Konjice and later Stranice and Vojnik. From the roundabout at Stranice, continue straight ahead and drive to Spodnje Stranice, where you will see a parking lot on the right side of the road, next to the red mountain direction signs.

Path description:
From the parking lot, take the path in the direction of Stolpnik and initially continue along the main road in the direction of Celje. Soon we will come to a small crossroads, where we go left on a side road, along which the markings continue, and we continue past some houses. Before the small bridge, where there are mountain direction signs, we leave the marked trail and take a sharp right onto the macadam road, which we continue along. The road immediately turns into a forest and begins to climb crosswise to the right. Go straight ahead or slightly right at two small crossroads higher up and the road then turns east below Jurjevi vrh, where you continue crossing. Further on, we arrive on the slopes of Srobotný vrh, where we occasionally get beautiful views that stretch all the way from Pohorje to the Kamniško Savinjske Alps. After a longer crossing, we reach a crossroads where we join the marked trail, we go right (left Čretvež) and then after a minute of further walking we reach the Štepih hunting lodge.
Leave the road at the hunting lodge and continue left on the marked footpath in the direction of Stolpnika. There is a short climb through the forest and then cross the forest road. On the other side of the road you also climb through the forest, and higher up you pass over a short lookout, from which you get a nice view of part of Karawanks and Pohorje. The path returns to the forest after this part, through which you continue until you reach the summit, a few minutes away, where there is a 25-metre-high lookout tower.
